I spent Christmas 25th December 2018 in this restaurant and I am very disappointed, the waiters and the chefs treated us very badly! We pay £150 Christmas dinner for two people and we thought they would treat us nicely, but they disappointed us and you could see how grumpy they were we did not offer enough cooked vegetables for two people were the greedy with the portions of food! The Christmas Dinner supposed to be tasty but NO was Very Bad 😐👎🏼 The turkey was cooked and served very Dry👎🏼 we had the christmas dinner booked at 3:00 pm afternoon, once we reach they sent us to the bar to push our hand to order some drinks and apologising to us telling: “Sorry but your christmas table is not ready” 😐😟 we order some drinks to the end table was ready 3:20 pm 🤭 Shame! I want to mention that the waiters who served our food rushed so fast with the plates they want us out 🤭😐👎🏼 They did not give us time to enjoy the Christmas dinner No definitely Not we finish out Christmas dinner with that 3 courses at 4:00 pm So do you think guys it’s healthy to eat my christmas dinner in 40 mins??? because the staff was bored and tired fed up of other customers??? I want to mention they served our dinner without gravy, no water on the table, we had to ask the waiters 2-3 times to bring us gravy then ask again 2 times to bring us water on the table they want us out! Waiters and chefs planned to hurry us as soon as possible to close the restaurant at 4:00 pm for them it was more important to make selfies 🤳 photos in front of the restaurant at 4:00 pm 👎🏼👎🏼 We pay £150 Christmas dinner for two people and we thought they would treat us nicely, but they disappointed us and you could see how grumpy they were we did not offer enough cooked vegetables for two people were the greedy with the portions of food Shame on you dear Manager to teach your staff to be miserable in the Christmas Day, they took a piss of us in...
Read moreI work at the local RAF base and stayed here as a treat with my fiancee for one night two nights ago. Great central location surrounded by amenities, and I parked down the street all night no problem. Check in was easy, staff very helpful, room was very clean and had all the things you could ask for; decent hairdryer for her, and a large comfy bed for me to name a few. Shower was great and I loved the luxury bath products (try the whiskey water shower gel)... smells lovely :))
The best thing though for me was the standout breakfast in the morning. The ginger bearded chef who was cooking that morning did an amazing avocado, poached eggs, smoked bacon, olive oil, nuts, on toasted focaccia ensemble. Heavenly... and was also included as part of the room so quids in. The waiter, Paul, was fantastic also; both a credit to the hotel.
Definitely give the hotel a 4.5 out of 5 (rounded up to 5 on here rather than a 4). Only things I'd improve would be the addition of sweetener to the complimentary coffee in the room as the fiancee doesn't do sugar. I'm not a fan of feathers and I had a feather duvet and four feather pillows - who not 2 feather, 2 synthetic so people can choose. Lastly, and this is me being me, in room 20 there are small spots of mould on the ceiling above the shower. Just need a bit of anti mould paint touch up. Two minute job.
Those tiny, tiny things aside, I had a great time at the Blue Boar and would definitely recommend staying here to others, and I would definitely return in the future. Thank you...
Read moreThis is honestly one of the worst meals I’ve had in a very long time. The food was appalling. The starters were bland, lacked flavour and really quite weird combinations of food - not sure who designs these menus but the fries tasted like they were out of a packet (frozen) with some cheap BBQ sauce on top. We then ordered the Sirloin steak for dinner - at £32 this is a punchy price point & one you would expect at a good London restaurant. This steak tasted like it had been frozen before & then heated up with a hairdryer. It was not cooked well at all, it was rare and not in a good way (even though we asked for medium rare), tough, chewy and full of gristle. The fat content and marbling on a good cut of Sirloin is instinctive & I wondered whether this was really a Sirloin or a cheap rump that they were palming off for a higher price. It was very clear it was not a good quality cut of meat. The seasonal vegetables on the side were raw and cold - the broccoli was hard. How you undercook boiled vegetables is beyond me. All in all an incredibly disappointing meal and really not worth the time and money as it currently stands - would pop in for a drink at the front pub section again as this has a nice atmosphere & actually the wines on offer were decent, but most certainly will not be visiting again for food unless it has a drastic change. At these prices you need to be serving quality & especially in a time where people’s time and money is more...
