10.09.2023: 5 covers After returning from Portugal the day before we thought this would be a great way to end our family holiday. First off service was a bit slow, and we waited for over 20mins before we were asked if we wanted a drink. There seemed to be a good atmosphere in the restaurant with plenty of people tucking into their food. However, I feel the staff may need some more training. One member of staff, I'm assuming was the owner/manager just seemed to be floating around and not really doing much or providing much guidance to the staff either. We were told there was no Piri Piri chicken and no hake when we came to order. Portuguese restaurant with no Piri Piri, like Maccys with no burgers. Anyway, we ordered a mixture of small plates which did seem somewhat expensive, but after experiencing the portion sizes in the Algarve we thought we'd be good. The food arrived and I was gob smacked at the portion sizes, small plates, more like tiny dishes. The food was tasty, but way over priced for the portion size. We ordered the Portuguese fries too, and we got chips, not the thick cut crispy potato slices you get in Portugal, disappointing. One of my biggest turn offs is food being presentated in even numbers, and everything came in twos. If the owners take time to read this? I Would suggest you do some homework on the appeal of presenting odd numbers to consumers. On the whole the experience was pretty good, but I feel there's some kinks in the armour that need ironing out over the coming months, and it's a little over priced for the portion sizes. The venue has had many patrons over the years, and none have last very long. I'm going to give BoBo a couple of months before I give it another go. I hope this one makes it, as the concept is definitely a good fit...
Read moreVisited BoBo this afternoon with my brother and niece after a day out and had a fantastic experience. We were warmly welcomed into the restaurant, and the atmosphere was perfect for a sunny Saturday lunch.
We started with olives and bread that was baked fresh in house, followed by the mackerel and croquettes which we shared, both of which were incredible and for us the highlight of the meal. For mains, my brother had the piri piri chicken while I chose the pork belly, which was definitely the best I’ve ever had. Each dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavour, so much so that even my fussy niece was willing to try a few dishes on the table other than her usual burger and chips!
Fantastic food and great service - a combination that’s hard to find these days. We'll definitely be...
Read moreLovely place, atmosphere and food. 1st 2 orders came out and I sat at least 10 minutes waiting for my food, whilst my son and husband ate theirs. As I started eating after them, whilst I was still eating, they starting clearing plates an asking 2 pass across table. I had 2 tell the girl "I'm still eating. I'm not finished" just coz I paused whilst eating. Didn't like that at all and certainly didn't like the service charge added on of around £6. The meals didn't come together with a big wait between Clearing plates WHILST i was still eating Service charge added on regardless The food is lovely. The atmosphere lively. The restaurant looks amazing and I think it'll go a long way but just those little things Sorry. I'm all for supporting my food place up...
