Incredible how popular this restaurant is, considering how poorly they do on some of the main factors that should really give the Environmental Health inspectors grave concern. Firstly the prices are laughable - well they would be if Nando's were actually joking. Consider the astounding value of 4 little tiny chicken thighs for over £11 - you could probably buy 3 entire chickens for that. Should that be not sufficiently insulting, how about the fact that I was tonight handed 2 glasses - BOTH of which were filthy around the rim. I managed to buff mine up with my t-shirt - and I didn't even charge them extra for that one - how nice of me. Then there's the cutlery - which bizarrely isn't something this 'restaurant' considers an essential of placing on the tables (I'm presuming that's them being 'all trendy' or something). That was also in a fairly disgusting state. I managed to pick out an almost clean knife on the third attempt - it's a bit like a bacterial lucky dip - at least it was a free experience I suppose. We were then handed menus which clearly had remnants of someone else's Nando's sauce along the bottom. This experience was getting more impressive all the time - but it didn't end there.. My friend got the attention of a member of staff, and ordered a takeaway burger - and was told she would need to pay for that at the end of the meal. She went to pay, to find : no order. This restaurant operates in a very unique way - in that you place an order and NOTHING HAPPENS. Brilliant. So, in amongst their clearly rather confused selves (well can you blame them - when customers don't even have knives and forks on the tables) they eventually got it together. "That'll be about 5 minutes". I have a feeling this was a scripted token appeasement - seeing as 20 minutes later there was still no sign of my friend's takeaway order. So let's summarise the Nando's Experience shall we: filthy glasses, dirty cutlery, stained, filthy menus, shockingly overpriced food (it's chicken and chips - not lobster), and the unique ordering system whereby you ask for something and nothing happens. Really, if that's your idea of a 5 star experience, I think I'd sooner starve than go to your 1...
Read moreAwful. By far the worst experience we've ever had at a Nando's. Tiny, restrictive menu. Favourite vegetarian options have gone. You can no longer customise your food, it's set items that come one way only. After being seated we were given a menu with only a few items on it and told we had to order from the app. The app wouldn't download onto my partner's phone (we didn't want the app anyway), so eventually they allowed us to order at the counter. I ordered some kind of veggie wrap that was meant to taste like chicken, as veggie pittas are no longer available. It comes with mayo and lemon and herb, so if that's not your favourite, tough. There's no other option. When it arrived it was more like soggy pork sausages than chicken. Horrible. I asked for another drink, and the waitress said 'I can't serve you another drink as our card machine has just broken down again' I said I'd pay cash, but was told 'We no longer accept cash'. Well don't worry Nando's, you'll never be getting any more of our money after this...
Read morePoor service with an odd and confusing self service ethos whereby you are expected to obtain your own basic condiments from a self service area - not good when you have sat down for your meal with no explanation of the process from service staff. For this price you would also expect attentive table service. It is an expensive place offering very poor value for money - dry chicken which was bland in the extreme. Astonishing given that it claims to be a flavoursome chicken restaurant. Adding factory produced bottled sauce to a restaurant prepared dry slab of bland meat is not a good concept. A shockingly bad dining experience which in terms of cost was also a rip off. Have not gone back. Wish I had gone to McDonalds across the road. On the plus side did offer a balloon on leaving to the young child in my group. Still, given the quality of the food and the price I am surprised that...
