Server 5 stars, food 3 stars, hostess 0 stars
We came tonight at 5 and were told a 25-minute wait. I gave our name and said we would wait in the lobby where it was extremely hot even with two fans blowing (maybe they could invest in a window shade). We waited about 20 minutes, my husband went to check, and he was told they took our name off the list because I said we were going somewhere else. I did not tell them we were leaving. Instead of honoring our original place in line, the hostess said she would see what she could do and put our name on the bottom of the list. Then our guest went to check and they argued with her. We finally got seated about 5:45 after several people who came in after us got seated. This is poor customer service. The Herrera mom and dad would have been embarrassed by this. We were embarrassed how we were treated in front of an out-of-town guest after we had said this was a good place to go. The good news is that we had a wonderful server named Maria and she saved the evening. She was friendly and did her best to get us taken care of quickly. Our guest had an appointment to get to and the seating delay could have meant she would be late. Maria got our order, kept our glasses filled, and served our food in time for our guest to finish and get to her appointment on time. The ladies up front have not been friendly the last three times we have been there. It's a shame. We like to go to locally-owned places, but I'm sure it will be a long time before we go back here. If we get an apology, we will forward it...
Read more4/14/22: Went again in hopes it was better. Nope, still too spicy. They use way too much chili powder in their enchilada sauce. I went to San Antonio, and the flavor was awesome and didn't burn your mouth. Casa Herrera owners need to learn something from SA.
Edit 06/13/21: We went in several times over the last few weeks. I called to complain about their enchiladas sauce being a bit too spicy. Leaves a after taste of heat in your mouth and your stomach will be bothering you later. Too much chili powder or something else in it. My mom and brother came and it was too much for them too. I tried to talk to the manager that is usually the cashier and she was rude and wouldn’t listen. Saying we never had complaints on it before, and it’s me since they eat their food all the time. I’ve been going to them for years and they changed over the last year. They have other complaints it the reviews of similar problems. Guess they don’t read the reviews. We will be going elsewhere now as they don’t seem to care to fix it.

Been coming here for years.. Love the texmex but lately their sauce on the enchiladas has gotten a bit too spicy with too much chili powder. They use to be awesome. Last at least 5 visits have not been so good and we stopped going as often now as my family cant...
Read moreI drove into town feeling tired but hunger won the battle. I googled restaurants near me and Herrera’s came up in the search. I looked at the pics online and reviewed the menu before driving the 3 minutes, could’ve walked but I was tired. I arrived and was quickly seated at a table in a cozy spot. They don’t have booths, only tables but it was comfy. I look at the menu and I’m torn between the #5 which has a tamale, two enchiladas and a taco or the flat enchiladas with two fried eggs on top just like my mom used to make. I ask for guidance and finally decided on the #5 plate. In the interim chips and salsa are served with the salsa tasting fresh with just enough of a bite to wake my senses. My piping hot plate arrives and I’m excited to try every portion. The taco was hearty with a perfectly crunchy shell. The two enchiladas were big and smothered with a tasty red chile sauce. The tamale was subpar but but still edible. The beans and rice were really good. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant if you want food cooked fresh like mom’s home cooking. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and her daughter, they were very friendly and were genuinely concerned about my dining experience. I promised Mrs. Herrera I’d be back as soon...
