My most recent visit The Flipping Egg was my second. Someone else in the fam wanted to go here, so we did.
First off, our waitress was great, friendly and all, so no issues there.
Prices seemed a little high for what it is, but I'm not making that an issue in my rating. Anyone can probably look up the menu ahead of time and check prices before they go.
My daughter's waffle was overdone, but that was taken care of quickly, and she enjoyed her meal.
My experience was different.
I remembered from my first visit that I didn't like their pancakes (but it could have been the syrup...), so I stayed away from those and went with the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and okra. Two complaints here:
While the flavor and the quality of the side items were good, the portion size was miniscule. The serving size for the potatoes should have been at least doubled what I got.
The hamburger steak was somewhat small, but the major problem was that it was cooked to death. I had asked for anywhere between medium and medium-well, but instead got double extra well-done. (It's not hard to cook a hamburger patty without killing it.) I let my server know, and she said she'd have the manager come over. By the time he got to our table, everyone else was three-fourths done with their meal. I showed him the problem, he agreed it was overdone, but by that time, I was not going to wait for them to make another. If the waitress had taken my meal back immediately when I showed it to her, the restaurant could have easily rectified the problem in a timely manner, but having to wait so long for the manager--that led to an unsatisfied customer.
Two reasons I did not rate only one star:
After my daughter got her waffle remade, the rest of the family was satisfied with their meals.
The manager comped my meal without me asking. (I don't like to have my meal taken off my bill. At all. I don't even like to send food back, as it is wasted food. I'll generally eat what I'm served unless there's a major problem. But it's upon the restaurant to get basic things right. Slightly overcooked is one thing, but what I received from The Flipping Egg vs what I ordered, well that's another thing.) Sure, the manager comped my meal, but I also ended up having to wrangle down extremely overcooked...
Read moreNot customer friendly. Management/owner is extremely rigid. If your meal is wrong through no fault of your own, you will be charged for it to be fixed. Some people do not look at their bill, so this is a heads up. This review is based on four different visits, so I finally decided to write a review. Ordered California Benedict with poached eggs hard. Recieved eggs soft. On my ticket, I was charged for the redo of new eggs and hollandaise even though I had not eaten the eggs. In spite of this, I tried it again on another day and again received soft eggs, and the meal was also missing the avocado. Be aware that if you remove anything from your meal for dietary reasons, or any reason, you are not allowed to substitute anything of comparable value. You can remove something from the meal ( with no price decrease of course) but if you want to replace it with something, you will be charged. No refills for coffee, no hot water refills for tea; this happened all four visits. Not sure if this is only bad service, or money saving practice. Ordered toast dry because one person in my party is vegan and requested no dairy. Server delivered buttered toast. The server announced we would be charged for the redo for one piece of toast. In addition, don't most orders of toast include two pieces, not one? Upon seeing the shock on our faces, server said she would pay for it herself. She brought a new piece of toast dry and said she was able give another customer the buttered toast. 🤔 I ordered the chicken tenders. The two tenders were uniformly shaped, like frozen food. They tasted like something out of a box.The side of mashed potatoes was half filled; it was one heaping tablespoon if I'm being generous. You probably need to love cinnamon to eat here. Even the "house made" maple syrup tastes like cinnamon. It tastes like a mixture of molasses, corn syrup, and water. Texas Hash is smothered with cheese, so if you like lots of cheese you may enjoy that. Bottom line, I do...
Read moreWent there during the week. There was a sign to seat yourself once a table becomes available. Most of the restaurant was closed off and tables used was just cornered off to two sections. They said that they have very limited help on Monday and Tuesdays is why only a small section was used. Okay I get it but I would have liked to have an employee guide us to know when a table was available. It felt so rude to be constantly looking at patrons while they eat to see when they get up to leave, then once you walked up to table the guy had to clean off the table. I think.he could not hear or speak which nothing wrong with that, but i.think the sign should have said once tables become available please wait while bus boy/man cleans off table before proceeding to the table/booth. We had to stand there next to other tables where people were trying to eat while we stood waiting for our table to be cleaned. This was our first time here so we were not used to the way they run things around there. Not sure if I want to go back there again since you are sort of left on your own to figure it out. Additionally I love to order French toast and since this was my first time here I had no.idea what they were like. However our server said it was very good. The taste was okay but I don't plan to order again. To me the French toast was average and they didn't seem to use any special kind of bread but rather seemed like regular sandwich bread with 2 eggs and bacon and I believe it was 12.95. That is expensive for using regular sandwich bread compared to the rest of my.party that seemed to order heartier meals and theirs was...
