Very, Very Disappointed. I started with the Salad which had used utensils sitting in the salad proteins (ham, chicken). The bar was not being replenished which was missing the iceberg garden salad mix, red leaf mix and spinach. I brought that issue up with the gentlemen that was working behind the salad bar and his response was very nonchalant and very disconnected. So I wanted to communicate my issue to the manager and asked him to please have the manager see me at my table. I was sure the manager would have liked to have that feedback. After making a salad with items that were available I started with my entree. I wanted the well publicized brisket so I chose brisket and a piece of steak. The steak tasted good. The brisket tasted terrible and was very tough. The brisket had a lighter fluid like or marinade flavor that was very strong and overpowered the taste of the meat. Not sure what that taste was but the brisket tasted terrible. The manager never came to visit me after about 30 minutes so I then asked our server to see the manager again. The manager finally showed up and I brought up my concerns to the manager, David Casavant. I was dumbfounded with his response to my concerns. His was argumentative and he stated that he tasted the brisket and it was fine. I am positive he did not taste that brisket because my party of five had come to the same consensus that the brisket was not acceptable. I also advised him the the brisket was tough and he disagreed, again. I also advised him of the issue with the salad bar and my concern with the lack of communication from the salad bar employee. I can only assume that the employee's strategy was that if I did not say anything else then my concern/customer would just go away. Otherwise, there would have been a little more sense of urgency that I saw the manager. In any case, Mr. Casavant's response, concern and acceptance of my criticism was less than acceptable as a store manager/leader. He never offered a simple apology, explanation or showed any interest in addressing my concerns. At the very least, Mr. Casavant should have offered some type of apology or assurance that my concerns would be addressed. During our conversation, he stopped me while I was communicating my concerns and stated that "How about I just refund your money and we go about our separate ways". I am positive this is not part of Golden Corral Customer Service Policy. If the Manager, David Casavant, did not want to communicate it is no wonder why his salad bar employee did not want to communicate my concerns. As a business owner, my intent is to always offer constructive, actionable feedback to management, as needed. However, I felt his approach was to quickly offer a refund to avoid my concerns, feedback or responsibility. The manager was very unprofessional, counterproductive and a hindrance to the success of your team on my visit. I agree with your manager/leader that Golden Corral in Abilene and my money should part ways. Good Luck With Your Team Of Managers/Leaders Golden...

Food left my entire party with upset stomachs. I had to avoid the highway on the way home because I was worried that I would have to pull over to vomit... I wish I were exaggerating.
I hadn't been to golden coral in a couple years and a friend had suggested. I decided to try a little bit of as much as I could. Thinking it was a buffet I was going to get just enough to taste about all I could.
All the fish was plain and tasted like it was frozen. It probably was as we're in central tx so I can get past that. However, if your popcorn shrimp is of a lesser quality than the bag of popcorn shrimp I can get at HEB then there is a problem.
Chicken fried steak was tough and gray. I was lucky enough to get a fresh steak having just been replaced on the line. It was tough, thin, and gray. Definitely not digging it.
I could keep going about the food, but I'm sure anyone reading gets the idea.
So, that's the food. Nauseating and flavorless.
I had a coke as my drink. Came as a fountain drink. Pretty standard, but I didnt realize until my second glass that there was a film of something floating on the top of the liquid. I'm pretty sure it wasnt the glass that was dirty. I've worked with soda fountains before, in a fast food place and a couple of gas stations. The only time I've ever seen any soda have a film on the top of the drink is if the soda fountain hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time.
I was nauseous the entire way home. I really dont recommend this golden coral. I remember going when I was young and really enjoyed it. I cant remember ever enjoying it as an adult.
Maybe I'm just overly picky but I'd rather eat leftover chinese out of a trashcan than go back to...
Read moreI always like a good buffet, but this is not that. I paid just over $45 for two people and we were both excited to fill up. I like to try a little of everything when I eat at a buffet, so I definitely went through the different choices available. Most of the food was straight up gross. The meats were dry, the fried foods were flavorless, and almost everything was kept at such a low temperature that it got cold between the buffet and my table. They don't seem to rotate food properly, so things get very old and stale, and they take a long time to dump new food on top. I figured at the end of my meal, some of the dessert options would be better, but even those were nasty. Anything chocolate tasted like chemicals, and the cakes tasted like they were frozen. The chocolate pudding didn't even taste like anything, it was like eating water. The service wasn't great either. Our waiter was a bit too persistent, and the waitress working the table next to ours was nearly bumping into me and yelling to her table from right beside me. The most recent "excellence" award they have on the wall is from 2014, and I can see why. It was overall a poor experience, and I suggest you eat elsewhere until they can get a manager that can properly...
