Office Depot — Local services in Abilene

Wow! This place is FULL of beautiful products to buy! It's a good thing I didn't bring a wallet full of money or I would have bought everything! If you want some excellent quality items for your home or office, this is the place to go! There were quite a few items on sale with great prices. The regular prices on things are probably a little higher than places like Walmart or Target, but they also have a much larger selection of things, such as desks, chairs, office accessories, Etc. Even though prices are a little bit higher, they are still VERY reasonable and affordable. I went to Office Depot looking for Uni-ball Retractable 207™ Black Gel Pens 1.0mm Bold (Best. Pen. Ever.). I was in luck because they had a special going on for all Uni-ball pens...Buy One, Get One 50% off! So I bought a 4-pack for $6.29 and got the second 4-pack for only $3.14! Excellent deal, as these gel pens are a bit pricey. Although, definitely worth it! Another thing I noticed while shopping around is that they carry a lot of products that I had never seen before that are made by popular brands. For example...they had some combination MasterLocks™ that are locked/unlocked using directional movement instead of turning the wheel to each number in the combination. I mean, maybe they've been out for a while and I just haven't seen them, but they were awesome little gadgets (attached to this review, I posted a photo of this lock, if you want to check it out). That's just an example, of course. There are many other products that I have never seen before that I would love to buy. The employees at this location were all extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. 👍 After checking out and when you receive your receipt, there is a COUPON attached for 20% Off a regular priced item on your next visit. The only issue with the coupon is that there is a looooong list of things that you CAN NOT use it for, such as: *all furniture and chairs, all technology or consumer ELECTRONICS (whaaaa!? 😒), all electronic labelers and labeling accessories (I'm still going to go back for one of these anyway because they are so awesome and not very expensive at all), all HP, Epson, and Samsung products, all sale-priced case paper, etc etc etc. In other words, you can't use it on any of the things you would actually WANT to use it for. 😕 It seems like a LARGE selection of items in the store are off limits, which is kind of off-putting. BUT! We should be grateful for the things we CAN use the coupon for, like office supplies and accessories, expensive pens, etc. So other than that, I think this is a fantastic store. There are gorgeous items everywhere to choose from. I would definitely recommend this Office Depot. AAA+++ business for...

They had excess cardstock in a clearance section that was removed from their original packaging for some reason and then they had tightly shrink wrapped the loose cardstock in a bundle. The shrink wrap was all the way around all four sides. They were anywhere from an inch to 2 1/2 inches thick in a few different colors. Written in black Sharpie was a barcode number and marked $1, $2 and $3. I picked up 3 different colors and when I went to checkout they put in the barcode and said, "They were 8 cents a piece." "I said so you are going to open the shrink wrap and count all the sheets and I am to pay 8 cents a sheet each?" That just didn't make any sense at all to me. I normally don't get irritated when things like that happen and I just brush it off. I went in to look for a dot grid notebook and out of the thousand I looked thru, there was not one. So I went to check out their washi tape section. Apparently they had a great sale at .73 a piece and they were wiped clean. The ones for regular price that I looked up online before I went in must have been PhotoShopped bc the patterns, colors didn't look near as nice in the store. So I ended up checking out under $10 (first time ever that's happened) I used to spend around $150 every time I went in, Yes, I know, 😛 but I love office supplies and pens and on and on. This is sadly the second time I've had a bad experience in their store. I wasted more than an hour of my life I won't get back, lol. However all was not lost, Target welcomed me with open arms and I found oodles of washi tape...

Went to the store to buy an office chair. Manager said it was out of stock. So, they assisted in ordering the chair online and we ended up paying on the same day. We were told that the chair would be delivered in a 3 to 5 business days. The chair came in 3 days later and fully assembled. So, I we were very happy. However, as soon as I brought into the door, you could see clearly the tags on the chair that it was the "display chair." Unacceptable! So, I called to return the chair for a new chair but none were in stock in store. Absolutely bad business practice since this is a typical bait and switch. We went through the hassle of ordering online with them thinking we were going to get a brand new chair. We even waited 3 days thinking a brand new chair was going to be delivered. I will never shop at an office depot again.

P.S. I called customer service and they seemed apologetic. They said they were going to refund some money back and provide a little 'gift'. However, it's been 2 weeks and I've yet to see any proof of reconciliation. Their customer service is just as deceptive as the employees and store manager in this office depot location. Terrible experience from a truly questionable...
