Reddog's Hi Point Pub — Restaurant in Absecon

We have been going to them for take out for a few months, and enjoyed the food and service. Because of the Covid-19, they could only be open for takeout. A few weeks ago, they were permitted to open for outside dining. I was very happy for them. Last Friday, we called for takeout, and it took several calls to get through. When I arrived for the pickup, it wasn't ready. that was okay, but it wasn't as good as we were used to getting from them. Today, another Friday, my wife tried calling for over 25 minutes, but she could not get through. I told her I would order, when I got there, which was at 5:32 pm. I placed the order, and went outside to have a beer, while I waited. I finished the beer, and went inside. I still had to wait a while. At 6:12 pm the food was brought to me. That's a long time for takeout, but I paid, and took the food home. Here is where the major problem happened. It only takes me 5 min. to get home. We unpacked the food. My wife's pizza was fair, but not up to standards, my sons food was okay, but my food, a Chicken Cowboy Sandwich, was dry, not very good, and must have been cooked first and been sitting for quite a while. The cheese fries were soft, and almost cold. After many enjoyable meals through takeout, I was extremely upset. I might add, they were busy, but not that busy. I stood outside to drink my beer to see that. I would suggest to people, that they stay clear of them, until they get their act together. I am sorry to say this, because the workers there seem very nice, but I can not stand for food that is not up...

Went here for the crablegs deal they have on Tuesdays. I don’t even know where to begin with this review...

First and foremost, the place was COVERED in flies. The entire dinner was spent swatting away a dozen of them at all times. They landed on our food, our faces, and everywhere in between. The window we sat in front of had an old fly strip that was covered entirely in dead flies, and the windowsill had over 100 dead flies just lying there, and also an empty, discarded can of raid spray. I took a photo; I wish I could post it here.

On top of all that, the waitress forgot every single thing we asked her for—multiple times. Eating crab legs and had no napkins almost the entire time. Drank one drink and it took 40 minutes to finally get a refill. She stood in the kitchen talking to other waiters most of the night.

Finally...the food. I’ve heard such great things about this place’s food, but the crablegs, corn, and cheese fries platter we got was...subpar to say the least. The crab legs were brown. Literally brown. And luckily we didn’t need the metal crackers we asked for but never got, because the shells were so soggy that we could just tear them open like they were paper. It was supposed to be endless crablegs, but they were so bad we didn’t even want another order. Worst 60 bucks I’ve spent in a long time.

Walked in on Friday night at 12:35 am for food after a comedy show in AC. we sat at a booth for 15 mins till I asked the guy at the door if there was a waitress .oh she just left u can sit at the bar. Now it's 1 am young man bhind bar asked what will you have 1 rum n coke and a shot..tick tock tick...watched him wait on customers there were only 16 ppl at bar . A rowdy group of 5 had most of his attention. Tic tok ....its 1:16 now still no drink ! A man named Steve was sitting a couple chairs down from us, and said I asked him 4 a beer when u guys sat here! Now it's 1:20 and he yells last call. I thought they were 24 hrs on weekends my bad. Last call I said did u 4get us. Alfredo says ohohoh sorry what was it again? We went to kitchen and told cook what we wanted. 2 orders of tails. 1:30 a couple walks in sits down and orders 2 beers Alfredo says sorry I called last call 😯😯 they leave but he still serving 2 guys at end of bar and the rowdy group!! I can go on but you get my point !! Granted I know it will never be skelly's HP but in my opinion it shoulda stayed closed!! Absolutely horrible service, tails were dry!! Its another bar that has younger intoxicated ppl blasting horrible music! Save yourself the trip and the money it isn't worth it.. 3 strikes...
