😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡Today will be our LAST time eating at this restaurant. My Husband & I have been eating at Mizu 2 to 4 times a month for years. It use to be really good food with friendly wait staff. But over the last roughly 3 or 4 months the food and service has started going down hill. Today we went for lunch. And to day were disappointed would be an understatement. We were sat right away. My Husband got a sweet tea, Hibachi scallops with the normal sides of rice, noodles, vegetables, & salad. I had a coke, Hibachi chicken, rice, extra vegetables no noodles, & salad. The salads came out not even half the normal lunch portion with not even enough salad dressing to taste. (We sit at a table and not the grill when it is just the two of us dining) our plates came out and my plate appeared normal. My Husband's plate however was not. The vegetable portion of the plate was a joke. He had roughly 3 very small pcs of broccoli, 2 veey small pcs zucchini, 3 really tiny tid bits carrot, it was all together 2 bites on the fork. I know lunch portions are smaller than dinner but this did not come anywhere near even being half of the lunch portion! He did not touch his plate until we got the server back to the table. We brought this to his attention and he was very rude and arrogant. Saying that it was a lunch portion. MY Husband had to order an additional side of vegetables just to be able to taste them. The server said he would have to talk to a manager. Instead of having a manager come to our table he tool the plate and walked it all over the restaurant (how is that covid safe?) He even sat it down at the bar area where other people were sitting! Then said server evidently was mad and never came back to check on us again. No drink refills nothing. It took forever to get our ticket and pay. The yum yum sauce was watered down and had no taste. My husband talked to the manager himself on the way out and he showed no concern. My Husband told him (in front of several guests waiting to be seated) we would not be returning to his establishment that he had lost not only us but all of our friends and family as customers. We will now be going to Hoover for Japanese cuisine. And that very rude arrogant server did not receive a tip...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped in to eat here one night. Hibachi places are some of our fav places to go! This is by far the worst Japanese steakhouse we have ever had. And we have had several in different states! So to start out we ordered waters. And my husband did get a mixed drink. He said the drink wasn't bad. I am also an avid sushi lover. Not knowing the sushi quality here, I took the safe route and just ordered a Crunchy Shrimp Roll. It's really hard to mess that up. It was the most bland sushi I have ever had. Literally no flavor and barely any Eel sauce, which was sweet and the only thing keeping me eating the roll. Next we were served our ginger salads and soup. The plain broth soup was honestly the best thing I had there, and still not the best I've ever had. The ginger salad dressing was okay, but lettuce was in larger chunks and there wasn't enough dressing. For the hibachi, I ordered steak and my husband ordered chicken. Both meals were extremely bland and just literally no flavor. My steak was cooked appropriately though but just didn't want to eat due to the taste. The fried rice was bland as well, not even the yum yum sauce helped it. Our hibachi chef that cooked in front of us wasn't pleasant at all. Never offered refills on our sauce containers and never offered the ginger dressing for the steak, I had to ask. He wasn't really interested in us and just kept looking around the restaurant never making eye contact with us. He did the normal volcano trick where you stack the onion, but that's really all he did show wise. This was definitely our worst hibachi experience, well as sushi experience. Would not return under any circumstance.
*sorry for the lack of photos, but I promise you aren't missing anything
**also if you are wanting good hibachi, take the extra couple of minutes and drive to Kobe off of 280, Stix or Sumo which are by the...
Read moreFirst and for most if u could put zero stars I would have. Actually I would have put -5 stars just bc of how management handled our situation. This is insane. And to think this was going to be the best hibachi restaurant I have been to so far since I have moved to Alabama! But not anymore. Last night my fiancé and I ordered Togo hibachi and sushi Togo. We are not from the alabaster area. We live in Birmingham. And Mizu was first to pop up. We ordered two sushi rolls and the chicken and shrimp hibachi combination. Well the sushi was amazing! But once we got to our hibachi I couldn’t help but notice the profound smell of garlic. Like the entire hibachi dish taste like it was soaked in garlic butter. So I called the night we ordered and mention to the restaurant we could not eat it. It was to over powering and even the guy I spoke to mentioned That they have put more then usual the amount of garlic and even apologized and told us to come back to get a new order taken care. Mind you we are staying at my fiancé grandads house who lives 35 min away. So we came when we could. The lady who u think was the manager first made it seem like it wasn’t a problem and hen made a huge scene in front of her restaurant and said we couldn’t come back and giving me a lecture on we’ll if everyone came back and didn’t like it.. bla bla bla... and I wanted to be like well if that was the case then there is a problem and it isn’t your customers.... it’s YOUR RESTAURANT anyways horrible customer service. Kitchen and floors were caked On with dirt! Very dirty. And this lady made a huge mistake how she...
