Benihana prices, McDonalds service and atmosphere. You pick your food from some screens at the entrance and place your order at the front counter. They ask for a tip up front. I tipped because many of the workers were college kids and I know they need the extra money. We each had a hibachi plate and split one sushi roll between three of us. With tip, almost $100. The tip was not deserved for the service delivered. They give you a number. You go get your own chopsticks, silverware, napkins, fill your small plastic cup at the soda fountain, and find your own seat. They had none of the boba teas that we wanted to order. The floor feels sticky or greasy depending on where you step. The table we sat at was dirty. The food took a bit to arrive. They brought out the sushi roll first, then almost immediately two of the hibachi plates came out, a short wait and soup and salad appeared, with our third hibachi plate. Nobody brought out containers for the yum yum sauce for dipping. I got up, went to the kitchen counter, and took some. For some odd reason two of us found lemon seeds in our food. The sushi was OK. The hibachi flavor was OK but portions were small for the price. The vegetables were semi cooked and crunchy, not tender. They also looked past their prime.
One of the servers was the young lady that took our order at the register. She was pleasant and smiled. The other worker didn't smile and wasn't pleasant with us. Just tossed plates and bowls at the end of the table and left it to us to distribute things.
Do yourself a favor and go down the road to Kobe Japanese Steakhouse on Colonial. It will cost slightly more, perhaps $120 for three people. You'll get a true hibachi experience, the service will be appropriate for the money you're spending, and...
Read moreI have gone to this Kyoto often, and I am highly disappointed in it recently. To begin, the staff at the register didn’t really know what was on the menu. Which is shocking cause like.. you work there. But we sat down after ordering and once I received the soup and salad, I was turned off. The soup was lukewarm even though the waitress said “ be very careful, it’s very hot” which is obviously a line she was told to say. The salad was very minimal, looked like it had been sitting out for at least 10 min, and there was significantly more ginger dressing than salad. I ordered the Tofu hibachi dinner, and when it arrived, there was barely any food on the plate. They have begun using smaller plates to give less food. I received very little vegetables , a small mound of rice , and some fried tofu. The tofu was enjoyable. Everything else was so-so. I realized that the other people in my group and I were missing the noodles we payed for. The waiter who brought our food said nothing about it and 5 minutes had past. They had forgotten, so I went to the register and told the lady( who may or may not be the manager) and she asked my table number, what I ordered, and checked the receipts ( as if I would try to get free noodles out of them, but whatever). She didn’t apologize and said “ I’m going to put them separate” which I figured since I was already done with half of my small plate. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I will not be bringing my money back to this location. The Kyoto on 50 by Avalon Park is...
Read moreQuality of sushi was great. Menu options were plenty. We love that they have poké bowls. However, the service was awful. We ordered our food at 315 & didn't receive it until 4. We had 2 poké bowls, 7 rolls & 1 small sashimi combo between the 6 of us. When we received our Hot Green Tea it was drinkable immediately & quickly became less than warm...it wasn't served hot. When we asked for sweetener she told us "we're an Asian restaurant, we don't really have sugar". I did laugh because I haven't been to an Asian restaurant that didn't have sweetener of some sort. She came out with Splenda & said that was all they had. But I will give her credit for returning once again with liquid sugar. One person in our party received their 2 rolls first. He was finished eating them about 10 minutes before we received our other 5 rolls. Then, we received our sashimi platter - containing egg cake & cooked octopus (chef's choice), which isn't sashimi. Lastly, our 2 poké bowls were delivered with frozen Salmon. It's unbelievable how much time (& $$$) were spent at this establishment for such horrible service. There was 1 sushi chef, 4 female 'servers' & 1 fry/hibachi chef. We were the only ones in there for at least 45 minutes. We never received an update on the status of our food. We were never once asked if we wanted drinks refilled. Could anyone help the sushi chef? Could anyone help us? So much opportunity to provide customer service in this visit & the ball was not dropped, but exploded down through 3 layers of the...
