Oghane in Alameda is my wife and I's go-to for all you can eat KBBQ. Location is nice near the South Shore of Alameda where there's plenty of parking and other restaurants and shops to visit. The wait time varies, but we usually go late, like after 7 pm, so there's usually not much of a wait. Weekends are busier, but if you're a smaller party, the wait isn't longer than 30 minutes.
We always do the regular all you can eat menu, which has the cuts of meat we usually get. We've never tried the Premium, and the other cuts of meat you get don't appeal to us for the additional cost. I'd recommend going with the regular menu, which you won't be disappointed with.
The ambiance is cool. They have some TVs near the bar if you want to watch whatever they're playing. When the main floor is full, they have 2 additional rooms you can get seated in. We're not too fond of them as it seems more enclosed so it can get smokier in there. My only qualm about the restaurant is how slippery the floors can get. It's typical for KBBQ spots because of the grease in the air, but it can be a little sketchy, especially in the bathrooms. The grills could use better deep cleaning, too. You can see built-up grease on the sides of the grill.
We usually just order brisket and short ribs, nothing fancy. We've tried the rib eye steak and bulgogi, which are pretty good, but we just like how easy it is to cook brisket, and we like the marinade and fattiness of the short ribs. My only qualm about the entrees is that the serving size of an order can be inconsistent. We usually ask for 3 brisket, and once in a while, they bring out just one plate that doesn't quite seem like 3 orders. Other times, it's a lot. It's not a big deal since we can just order more, but 5 wanted to point that out.
For the sides, we usually get corn cheese, steamed egg, pot stickers, and once in a while japchae. You can't go wrong with any of them, although once in a while, the steamed egg tastes soapy, as if the dish they serve it in isn't completely rinsed. It's still edible, but the taste can be inconsistent.
Service is always pretty good. There may have been a couple of times when I rang the bell, and it took longer than usual, but someone eventually comes.
Overall, Oghane in Alameda is good for all you can eat KBBQ, and we highly...
Read moreI've been coming here for years. Always have great service. Food is great, I mostly come here for the Kimchee Fried Rice, it's my favorite.
Always loved coming here until recently, my friends and I came for a birthday dinner for 12. We never came with that much people before, it's usually 4 of us. When I called in saying we have 12 people, they said it was too late to do reservations (which I totally understood, it was day of) the gentleman said to us it may be a long wait for our table for our party of 12, no problem.
When we were finally seated, to our surprise they sat us 2 different tables. I asked for a big table but they failed to tell me big takes has to be reserved ahead of time. I so wished the gentleman told me when I called and arrived. I wish I had warning we would be seated at 2 tables. We let it go and made it work.
We had 4 picky eating kids with us. Ages of 4,5,7,9. All we ordered the kids was a side of fries, which they didn't even finish.
When the bill came, to our surprise we were charged for 4 kids all you can eat. I spoke with the waitress and she said their policy is kids HAVE to be charged the all you can eat regardless if all they eat are fries. Fyi per kid was about $17. THEN they realized one kid was 9 so they changed it from kid to adult price which is now approx $35. I lost my mind! They said on their menu it said this policy but when I checked myself, all the menu mentioned was the all you can eat ages which is between 3-7 years old. Nothing about being charged for kids all you can eat regardless if kids just eat fries.
I'm so disappointed on our experience. This experience put such a bad taste in our mouth and don't plan to come back. To make matters worse, before the hectic occurred, I told the waitress it's one of my friend's birthday and they never came to sing happy birthday.
As much as I loved this place. Never...
Read moreI love AYCE, especially KBBQ AYCE, so I would off the bat recommend to try them in general! This is my first time to Ogane, and I'd definitely recommend this place and I would definitely go back.
Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of the food, but took a screenshot of the policy, which outlines the rules.
There are 3 options (color-coded, white, blue, red) for meats which vary in prices. We did the lowest-cost option which was adequate for our first time there. I'd suggest this option, and then if you go back, maybe try the 2nd level up to see what other premium meats they offer.
The bonchon was good, and liked the kimchi and the spicy cucumber.
Some of the items we got were: pork belly (like thick slices of non-marinated bacon), Kalbi beef short rib, steamed egg (one of faves!....as a side dish), beef bulgogi, frech fries (lol), and shrimp.
I always eat the proteins with a side of steamed rice, so I had to get that for sure!
The ambience was really lively, and had pop music blasting. They have a cool call-button system, where when you press it, the server comes fast! The reason for one less star, are two things: firstly, the staff was good, however, almost hit my cousin in the head with the tray while delivering items. I commend their urgency, and promptness, but items in our face and maybe in the lap if they dropped it would've made the experience bad. Secondly, they placed the used hot pans right behind our table, so the smoke was very intrusive to us, and got on our clothes. We had to ask if they can move the used hot grills that were giving of smoke away from our table.
Overall, a great place to do AYCE with...
