Totally dissatisfying experience. We started with high hopes, as the atmosphere was decent and staff was friendly. Beer was good. We had the pilsner on draft. We tried the salmon chowder. Pretty bland, and would have benefited from the addition of some crackers or bread. We got the rockfish tacos and king salmon. We were one of two tables in the entire restaurant when we ordered. Waitstaff and chef made a big deal out of providing the other 5 top table with appetizers by exclaiming loudly, "COMPLEMENTS!" (Of the chef) No such charm for us. We received our food, my husband's order was wrong. He ordered spinach, and was given kale, which they fixed, but he was served the spinach on a plate with a big chip in it. The king salmon he ordered was totally overcooked and the tacos were ridiculously skimpy on fish. Like seriously...the tiny chunks of fish in my tacos (of which there were only two pieces of fish per taco) were smaller pieces than I would give my cat as a treat. Smaller than a scrap nugget in the fryer. We are talking SMALL scraps here! These tacos were some of the saddest, emptiest tacos I have ever seen in my life. (See my pics) We couldn't get the attention of the servers to point out the deficiencies of our meal. So we had to wait and save one taco to show her. She offered up an excuse. "The chef didn't plate your food." (What does that even mean?!) She discounted the tacos 50% but honestly, we would have rather had a good meal. It's not like they were busy, and it was Friday night, so one might expect them to have their A-team working. All in all, a totally disappointing dining experience. Skip this place. 💯

This our first time at Sitika,Alaska it's beautiful majestic place that we even before it rain most of the time but we saw Bald eagle it was incredible exciting to see one. We shopping we many thing at this time we were very hungry we one shop keepers what restaurant you recommended she go to the Beak restaurant they serve reindeer sausage and fresh salmon chowder then we decided to headed to the restaurant. When we go there it was pack but host was so found a couple to share their table with us very nice then she hand us the menu. She ask us our drink order I order Alaska IPA beer and water then we order. My order the soup and Kale salad and for myself I order mac cheese with reindeer sausage and a cup of their salmon chowder. The beer was incredible good taste I enjoy it very much. She brought our meal the mac n cheese was incredible good then I notice the reindeer sausage and salmon chowder looks so good I took a spoon of the chowder wow this chowder is incredible I told the waitess is the chowder is made fresh she say say daily. The chowder have so many flavors in the salmon and other sea food in the chowder it didn't taste fishy because everything is fresh. I really enjoy the chowder. The mac n cheese was one cheesies mac cheese I every taste with reindeer sausage add more flavor in the dish the cheese was incredible good they use high quality cheese in this dish. My wife order mac cheese she love. The staff were incredible good and friendly.

We finally got to try this place after being here a week and we were pleased. The savory butter board was good. We ordered the barley soup and that was delicious! I had the Mac 'n cheese without any additional protein. I asked to add reindeer sausage but I the server informed me they don't "offer that anymore." I don't quite understand that since they offer to add reindeer sausage to other dishes. The Mac n cheese was good but honestly, did not have a ton of flavor. I added the homemade aioli to it and it was a little more flavorful. I feel like a little salt would have helped too but since it wasn't on the table, I didn't bother. My husband enjoyed the lingcod sandwich. He got one of the last ones they had! My niece was torn about what to get and our server suggested the rockfish tacos. She had never had rockfish and was excited to try it. She was a bit disappointed at the small portion of fish that was in the tacos. She wasn't blown away by the flavor and ended up adding the super spicy homemade hot sauce to them, which she liked. We ordered the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches for dessert and were pleased! They were delicious, the cookies tasted fresh and the ice cream was a perfect complement! We loved the ambience and decor and the little shop was super fun for some souvenirs. I would return again for lunch if we had more time but all in all, it was a nice experience.

Beak Restaurant was our introduction to Sitka and it made quite the impression. From the moment we stepped on the porch we felt at home, even though home is 1,800 miles away and nearly twice the temperature.

We were pleasantly greeted and offered our choice of tables at which to sit. Since it was a lovely day we chose to sit outside on the porch. It was nice to be in the fresh air after spending the morning packed in airplanes. Our attentive waitress took our drink order and quickly returned with our drinks and to take our food order. My wife and I split the fish tacos (with one additional taco added) and I also had the salmon chowder.

In what seemed a short time our food arrived. I have never had salmon chowder before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was amazing. I don’t remember ever enjoying a cup of soup as much as I enjoyed that one. The fish tacos were just as satisfying. The fish (rock fish I believe) was cooked perfectly and combined with the crisp cabbage, fresh pico de gallo and lime crema blanca made for what are some of the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. I do recommend adding Beak’s own aioli and their habanero sauce. This was a wonderful lunch.

I know that this is a lot of words to say that I highly recommend Beak Restaurant, but I feel they deserve more than “it’s a great place to eat.” I enjoyed every aspect of having lunch here, the setting, the people, the food, everything. Thank you, Beak Restaurant, for making something as simple as lunch...
