This hotel used to be one of the best in town, those days are long over. For the price per night the value is just not there. Wifi did not work. The bathtub was stained yellow all down the middle. It was also repaired a bit with white epoxy. The toilet flushed at least. The carpets were very old and dirty overall. The chair in the room had a cigarette burn in it. The window functioned but the screen was bent and allows mosquitoes in. You can feel the springs in the mattress. I sanitized the entire room because it just felt dirty. The hotel bar/restaurant doesn't serve fish (quite shocking for Sitka standards). Their food was overall normal, nothing special. Alcohol was reasonably priced. Overall the value just isn't there. At the summer rate price points you can find much much better and newer accommodations. The Westmark brand has simply not reinvested profits into properly maintaining this hotel and it really shows. This used to be the gem of Sitka, not anymore.

Had a very pleasant 2 night stay at this hotel. Such a difference from a disappointing stay at the Westmark in Anchorage! Here we had real porcelain coffee cups (not paper), real glasses in bathroom (not plastic) and a restaurant open for lunch right through dinner (instead of only for $21 breakfast at Westmark Anchorage). Alberto was a great waiter! Bar was also available and open (instead of never open at Westmark Anchorage). Everything (hallways, rooms, elevator) was very well cared for (instead of run down and looking like they don't want to invest because maybe they're tearing the building down soon in Anchorage). Kaitlyn at the desk was so incredibly helpful and pleasant! We would go back here. Great location in the middle of everything. Ask for a room on high floor with a view of the water : )

Highly disappointed! I was flying in late, called to confirm shuttle, I was told yes. Arrived, no shuttle, called, ohhhhh, sorry we dont picknup for Alaska Seaplanes. Really?? So 8:30 at night, single female stranded at airport. Another hotel said, oh we would be happy to take you (Sitka Hotel) think I will stay there next time. Get there, lady at front desk was quite rude, got to room, tv did not work, she did not really care when I called front desk. They finally sent someone, they could not figure it out. This is now 2 hours later. I am exhausted! No complimentary coffee in the morning. That was a huge disappointment.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with this hotel — specifically with the manager, Nick Lavender — was upsetting and unacceptable. I left two very expensive items in my room after checkout: a pair of AirPods and a white noise machine. When I realized this, I called the hotel the next day hoping to retrieve them.

Instead of showing any concern or willingness to help, Nick was immediately dismissive and defensive. I asked if he could investigate with his housekeeping staff, and he outright refused, saying he “trusts his staff” and doesn’t know me, so I must be lying. I explained that I had only been at the hotel and my brother’s house — there was no other possible location where the items could have gone missing — but he insisted he didn’t believe me and made no effort to even pretend to look into it in an investigative manner.

When I asked for the owner’s contact information to escalate the issue, he refused again and said he wouldn’t allow me to “bug him.” The complete lack of empathy, accountability, or basic customer service was honestly shocking.

I understand that things get left behind sometimes, but the unwillingness to investigate or even acknowledge the possibility of wrongdoing by staff is deeply troubling. I feel violated and disrespected. If you value your belongings and want to be treated with decency, I strongly recommend...

Stayed 3 nights.||Sitka is quite small and everything in the town is within walking distance of everything else, apart ftom going to Japonski island for the airport and the Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center. You will need the hotel shuttle for that.||We had a great view of the harbor and the spectacle of watching a cruise ship pirouette in the harbor when it was departing. The restaurant is physically attached to the hotel, but run as a separate operation, so one cannot charge meals to the room.||The hotel is charming with a large enclosed area to watch TV or read. The only place that I’ve encountered that had books on shelves to read if it was raining too much that day. The collection of Nancy Drew books was surprising (see picture). I left a book there as well, just to try to provide for a little more diversity.||We encountered the flight crew of our flight on the same shuttle van and were assured that this was the best hotel in Sitka. They routinely overnight in Sitka, so I would hope they know.||No A/C in the rooms, it is an older hotel, but still quite nice. The fan was adequate to keep us comfortable at night and the window had a screen. We had apparently arrived on the best days (warm and dry) in the past two weeks.| |The lobby is often full of tourists here to fish for a few days, but that’s Sitka, not...

BED BUGS! Our room had bed bugs. We were in Sitka for work and ended up with our bodies covered in bites, and I’m sure taking them home with us considering how many there were in the room. Found bed bugs and took pictures and put some in a cup. Went down to talk to the front desk and they were very unconcerned and uncaring. They moved us to a different room but I had to miss work to wash all our laundry while moving to the new room to try to rid ourselves of them. AND they made us pay for the laundry service, didn’t offer to pay for it or discount our bill or give us a food voucher for the restaurant or anything. Not even an apology! Aside from that- the hotel in general is very musty with a strong smell of harsh cleaning chemicals, bit worn down, and they price gouge you every step of the way. There is a mini fridge in each room but no microwave. The hot water is very finicky. They charge for most things other hotels give you free. Absolutely horrible stay! We understand that when you travel bed bugs are a risk, but to not even apologize or try to make it right...
