We come in often. At least once a week. We love their vegan options. The owners have recognized us over the past couple of weeks. But lately we have noticed that the woman who greets us gives us dirty looks whenever we come in. We weren’t sure why. We are always friendly and tip 20% every time. Today she told us “next time you come, pay with cash. You’re costing us a lot of money when we swipe your debit card.” Ummm. First off it’s illegal to tell someone how to pay. I’ve worked with a bank for many years and know the laws. They have a sign that says they accept debit and credit but have to pay a small fee with every swipe so try and pay with cash. We paid with cash last time we were in so we were very caught off guard when she told us to pay with cash for now on. Not sure I can give up their delicious food yet. But I will definitely not allow them to get away with forcing us to pay a certain way when their sign clearly says they accept credit cards. It’s the cost of...
Read moreThis food is excellent! I’ve enjoyed Ethiopian food in multiple different cities, and Queen of Sheba’s is definitely up there as one of the best! I was so thrilled to find an Ethiopian restaurant here.
The gomen wat (collard greens) are really fresh, and the yebeg tibs (sauteed lamb) was very tender and flavorful. The yellow lentils are also very tasty, and are my favorite comfort food. Definitely get a few different dishes to share with the whole table, and order extra injera, too (rather than using forks, you pick the food up using the injera, which is a type of sourdough bread and really adds nice flavor to tie the whole meal together. If you’re like me, you’ll use lots of injera because it’s so good).
We got our food as takeout, and it was packaged well and ready quickly. The restaurant looked like a very nice place to sit down for a meal, too, and we look forward to...
Read moreExcellent!!! I was immensely impressed with everything about this restaurant. Visiting from Chicago, I have experienced several authentic and fine Ethiopian restaurants. Chicago has a strong Ethiopian presence. This is one of the BEST I've tasted. Spices were divine and authentic and the portions were plenty. To top it off the service was great. We seated ourselves and our order was taken and we had our meal within minutes.
The host/waitress/server/cashier handled a full group of restaurant patrons with style and professionalism. The restaurant was clean and very presentable including the bathroom. The chairs were comfortable and the ambiance was excellent. Would have been nice to have more traditional music. But the Jazz was nice.
Having had plenty of authentic and good Ethiopian food, I rate this among the best!! I'm just visiting Alaska but I hope to return...
