Famosos Tacos & Tequila — Restaurant in Albemarle

After giving this place three chances we will no longer be returning here. For some strange reason we are always sat at the same spot. We asked our waiter for two waters and only received one. We requested a grilled jalapeno and it never came. Waiter never came back and checked on us while they passed our table many times. We asked another waiter there for a drink and never received it. By the time our waiter came they were ready to send us out the door. After our check and boxes were brought to us, they stood there waiting for us to pay. They walked away real quick with no words after we handed them the cash. Service here needs a lot of work. The restaurant was not busy enough for us to not receive proper service. If you’re looking for a restaurant with good or friendly service, this might not be the best place.

My food was dry. The salsas here are quite sour if you are not into sour sauces, keep that in mind. Our sides and food came out cold.

I went there during lunch today, and let me break it down. I ordered 2 of the steak tacos, 2 of the birria tacos, horchata , and a famosos dip. It came out to about $65. So pretty much 8 tacos , horchata and a dip. The steak tacos were a little dry, but the birria tacos are really good. For the price is it worth it? The birria tacos yes!! But the steak tacos not so much. I usually pay $4-$5 buck for one authentic (ribeyes) tacos at my favorite tacos spot , and the steak tacos isn’t close to what I’m use to paying for the taste of what I’m getting. The horchata is amazingly good and it’s probably one of the best I’ve had. I’m a taco manic and I would I try this place again? Absolutely!!! This place can’t keep me away! Love the food! Most of all love the tacos Al laDiabla! So good! The guacamole is so fresh and made table side if you eat there. Best thing is they give 10% off to veterans every day! We frequently get food here. My husband loves the burrito San Jose. Everything has flavor. It’s not your normal Mexican restaurant.
