UPDATE, 04/06/19 - WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE?? We walked in and immediately felt super uncomfortable. No music/ambiance just the owner sitting front and center with a weird attitude and staff so uncomfortably 'greeting' us. They also went to just talking with other staff about bs stuff and that's ALL we could hear. It wasn't fun. Or lively. Or welcoming at all. Had to ask for chips and salsa (salsa was so watery when it use to be good!), had to ask 3 times for lemon, for water. 3 times, because first 2 times they brought out a tiny sliver of tiny piece of lemon - nothing to squeeze. I mean, lemon wedge for water is super easy, basic restaurant 101. So, what is going on? We noticed. By recent reviews we are not the only ones. For fs, I bring out of town guests here! Well, did. And frequented often,,, which we don't eat out every day so for us this was a regular. I already missed the old decor but was cool with updates. Food still good - the chicken green chile stew was DELICIOUS,, but it seemed dark and unfriendly. Maybe Cecelia needs to let go and hire back some people that get it. The heart of this place is missing.
ORIGINAL POST; The nicest folks! Tiny, local, beautiful cafe. The food is spectacular. Hidden...
Read moreCombination plate: Enchiladas - corn tortillas were incredibly overcooked that they were hard, barely any cheese even though they cost the same as the meat one, no lettuce and tomatoes
Relleno - was good, good amount of cheese, decent size Beans and rice - also good, but it's hard to mess up those
Sopapillas - good, but a little on the small side
Service - attentive and nice, scary looking, but nice, forgot our sour cream though, took our lunch plates, but didn't give us plates for our sopapillas.
They mixed up the chiles. I ordered red on my enchilada, and green on the relleno, but it came reversed. That could've been the server or the cooks fault. They also charged us for extra onions, but I didn't see any.
I think it's cute and it was probably good once, but they weren't busy so I can't really overlook the staff forgetting our sides and plates.
As a culinary professional, I highly advise that they fire their cook. When you mess up corn tortillas and forget basic garnishes, you shouldn't be working in a commercial kitchen. Over priced for the food quality, which I blame entirely...
Read moreThis is my first and will be my last time at Cecilia's. After looking at the menu online my husband and I decided we would go for breakfast at Cecilia's for Blue Corn Pancakes which comes with Beans, Hash Browns, Green or Red Chile, Tortilla, and Cheese. When we arrived we were greeted by an older woman (I assume the owner). When taking the order for the pancakes she proceeded to tell us that the sides do not come with the pancakes. It was clearly stated on the menu that it does! She insisted it does not and that they haven't gotten around to changing it yet. We felt that they should have honored their menu and pricing until they got around to changing it. We decided to order the pancakes anyway which was a big mistake. They were pre-frozen, microwaved pancakes. They were horrible and rubbery. My husband and I were still hungry afterwards. After finishing the owner ignored us while she chatted with the 2 other guests for what seemed like a half an hour. Horrible service. This restaurant was on Diners, Drive-Inn's and Dives, it is none of the...
