This place was Pearl's Dive 20 some years ago, then it became Blackbird for a good 6 or 7 years. Then, a wine bar of some kind that I never stepped foot in, and just a few years later- it is now, and it is Red Door. I had a couple Diet Cokes and shared the "Dirty Fries" with my ex-girlfriend and current wife (the same person, not two different people). The loaded fries were delicious, the soda cold, and there were a lot of 20 something folks having a great time. That being said, despite noticing the younger demo, I didn't feel old and out of place. Just old. My knees hurt often these days, my back feels paralyzed when I wake up every morning, and I can't do push-ups the way I used to do them. It's strange how slowly time ticks but overnight the body collapses and one's age suddenly means something to the world. Will humanity some day unlock the mystery of time, or find a fountain of youth? Or perhaps our technology will upgrade to the point of bio-resurrection? Anyway, Red Door is cool and you should check it out. I gotta go, my knee just got really tight, so I know it's gonna...
Read moreGood place for a beer and a conversation. Music in the background plenty of chairs, even a couch and comfy chair. A bit of a fishbowl feeling due to the large glass front on two sides of the taproom. The interior design is a bit cool and not balanced. Many good elements (a concrete vault as game room, nice grates as ceiling, a wooded wall) but the color scheme does not accentuate. The Westcoast IPA was hoppy, fresh, a bit fizzy and not very rounded.Pretty dry finish, nothing wrong with that, but after the bartenders description, I expected a sharper opening and more citrus fruits din the end This all could add up to 4 stars, but I got carded. I cannot trust the judgement of anybody who puts me under 40. What else will that person misjudge? When I ordered my first pint I was informed about a 3 beer rule. Nothing wrong with keeping an eye out for your patrons but I felt immediately supervised and judged for ordering beer at all. A brewery should be a happy place that supports the enjoyment of...
Read moreThis is random but this review is specifically for the crispy chicken cobb salad I ordered from here on DoorDash.
I've had Red Door beers plenty but have never been to this location in person.
Anyways, the crispy chicken cobb salad I ordered from here on Doordash a few weeks back was insanely good.
It didn't re-invent the wheel or do anything new, but it was hands down the best salad I have had in I don't know how long. All the toppings were super fresh and perfectly prepared, and the chicken itself was crispy, juicy and perfectly seasoned all at the same time.
This was one of those simple menu items that was stellar because of how well prepared and fresh everything was on it's own. As a former chef & caterer, I really love to see it!
Just wanted to let you guys know that I crave that salad for lunch every week now.
Your back of house deserves a...
