This is a photo of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Downtown Albuquerque. I have been there. The members are lovely. They sometimes say the Rosary before mass. After mass some parishioners will pray or sing the Regina Chaeley or other seasonal Marian prayer. There is a is also ANOTHER. Immaculate Conception Church. But that Church is in TOME, NM. Tome is part of the Rio Communities between Los Luna's & Belen. Tome is about 30 miles South of the downtown ABQ church. Please know 2 fact: (1.) The Immaculate Conception Church in TOME, NM was built in 1754 !!!!!!!! (2.) I about a year ago the church received massive Maintenance Per the building techniques of the 1700's. (3.). The Maintenance (upkeep) was due to the Donations & Compassion of local wealthy families in TOME & the area. (4.) The Extensive Maintenance was due to deterioration, over the centuries. Our church looks very different from this one. It is smaller due to few people living in the area. And our church is Beautiful. I know, I worship there. I think that our priests are Treasures! They give wonderful sermons & are helpful for us. May you all,...
Read moreThis is the only Jesuit Parish left in Albuquerque and the priests here are led by Father Warren Broussard who is truly a blessing, not only to our parish, but to our community as a whole. All the fathers here are friendly and approachable, and give inspirational homilies, from Father Sullivan talking about living saints and the impact we can all have in each others lives to Father Jason sharing important stories of his journey and how he has changed his life for God, to Father Broussard; who opens my heart each and every time I hear him. Every single week when I leave mass after hearing the homily, I am at peace and inspired to go into our community and make decisions based on love with the goal of promoting peace because that is truly how inspirational the homilies are. The church itself is amazingly beautiful, from the striking icon of our blessed mother in the center of the church to the gorgeous stained glass windows and the classic simplicity of the architecture, this church and the Jesuits are a beacon of calm in the turbulence of the times we live in. If you are searching for a parish, this is the...
Read moreBeautiful old and very well kept up Downtown Jesuit Catholic Church. I have been s parishioner since the early 80s. Immaculate still has confessions (Reconciliation) at least once a day, if not more. It is one of the few Catholic churches in ABQ that offers this daily. They also have many different times for Mass during the week and weekends. They even have a totally Spanish Mass with everything in Spanish, including the Homily. The Jesuit priests are terrific.....very caring. Their Christmas Eve and Easter Masses are incredibly beautiful. The head Jesuit choir master, Father Joe Vanderholt, has not only a beautiful voice, but he has trained the various choirs to sing beautifully and in harmony. Father Joe's Chrstmas Eve song before Mass is not only beautiful, it gives you goose bumps! The actual inside of the Church makes me feel safe, wanted and in...
