Delicious fresh, still delicious as leftovers. Call ahead to make sure they haven't sold out yet. 90% of the less-than-5-star reviews of this place are because they almost definitely didn't call ahead to see if they'd sold out yet.
The reason they sell out is because they marinate their chicken for a day before cooking, but they don't increase the amount they prepare because the owner would rather sell enough to pay the bills and then take the rest of the day off! That sounds pretty nice to me, so I can't be angry about it just because I can't get their delicious food for a day.
Ignore the haters who complain about them selling out early or that their menu is small. They make Laotian chicken and sticky rice and they make it AMAZINGLY well. If that's not your thing, go somewhere else (though you'll be missing out...).
Best time to call and reserve an order is right after they open, but if you're calling by noon, it may already be too late. THAT'S HOW...
Read moreI went to this place because I have weekdays off and I wanted to see if this taste like gai yang. I was not disappointed. I had the two leg quarters on sticky rice. The chicken was moist and delicious. The sauce that comes with the chicken is sweet and spicy but good. Gai yang sauce is more on the sweet side. The service was fast and the restaurant is a to go place. I enjoyed the food and hope that you will try it out.
I went back and tried the 5 honey chicken. I love the kai ping or gai yang better. I talked to the owner and he told me that this is Laotian street food. I wish they opened on weekends, but I understand that people have to rest. The only ping kai in ABQ. This is my go to place for chicken. This is a take out only place.
Went back since moving to Hawaii still the best place for chicken in the...
Read moreThe chicken is amazing on or off the bone! The honey glaze is my favorite but the lemongrass is great too. If you're considering trying this place for the first time be aware that they buy ingredients for only one day at a time so they usually sell out in the early afternoon; the upside to this is that the food is always fresh. The prices are very reasonable and the service is lightning fast, the owner usually mans the register and he is a super nice guy. I can't write a review of Sticky Rice without mentioning their legendary hot sauce, It's homemade from a secret recipe and is hands down the best hot sauce I've ever had! All in all, I would recommend Sticky Rice to anyone looking for a quick lunch or just some unique food that will put a smile...
