We came here for breakfast on a Friday morning, myself, my two kids and my wife. We sat right away, seating ourselves at one of a few open tables. Our waiter was very attentive and came right over and greeted us. He remained attentive and nice throughout the meal. Service was solid across the board.
We'd come for breakfast and the menu has a pretty sizable selection of options. I got the avocado toast, my wife got an omelette, one of my kids got a burrito, and the other got a skillet.
My wife and I also got coffee. The coffee was so so, it didn't smell like much and was standard diner coffee. The skillet and burrito both seemed pretty good. I had some of the burrito later as leftovers and it was tasty.
My avocado toast was okay, but they smashed the avocado which is a risky move because it causes it to oxidize and take on a bitter taste unless you add lemon juice and start making your way towards guacamole. I prefer my avocado to be sliced on avocado toast. Or else it has to be smashed very freshly. Unfortunately this did start to pick up a bit of that bitter taste. It was three slices of toast with eggs, bacon, and tomato on the different slices respectively. I asked for sourdough, and I suppose it was, but it wasn't very flavorful sourdough. Overall it was okay but again the avocado flavor wasn't the greatest.
Unfortunately, my wife really didn't like her omelette. She found it to be very dry/overcooked and I guess a lot of the filling was actually outside of the omelette which threw her for a bit of a loop. But the dryness I think was her biggest issue.
There were many items we didn't try, and so we might consider coming back, but unfortunately the food wasn't our favorite at this first visit. Service was great, and it was nice to get out into a bustling and...
Read moreWe love coming to Hello Deli the food is usually good, with that being said our last 6 visits for me have been a food disaster!! Every single time I order my breakfast it comes out wrong and I have to send it back. I go back and forth between make your own omelet egg white mushrooms and spinach simple right or the heart healthy skillet with potatoes(not hashbrowns) , I do make 2 adjustments no bell peppers or onions. I have not had a meal that I haven’t sent back in our last 6 visits !! Whole eggs, hashbrowns peppers and onions have been some of the things. Today we went back and joked about betting on if my meal would be correct. All in fun, I ordered the Heart Healthy Skillet no onions or peepers ,mushrooms and spinach only! I also decided to take a photo of the menu and I am glad I did. My skillet came with tomatoes and feta cheese along with the mushrooms and spinach OMG I couldn’t believe it no where on the menu did it say that this meal came with tomatoes and feta cheese that was the final straw for me. I sent my meal back and forced down the egg whites with the feta because I was starving at this point. We told the server and the shift manager came to the table to apologize stating that oh our bad we really need to change the menu to reflect how the Heart Healthy Skillet now comes. I don’t think we will be back. UPDATE: We decided to come back cause we like this restaurant I had a game plan to get exactly what I wanted NEGATIVE I was told that I couldn’t build my own skillet to adhere to my diet....
Read moreA friend of mine wanted to get together with me before NM shut down restaurants again due to the pandemic impact. He recommended Hello Deli. I had never been so we agreed to meet there and have breakfast on the patio. We met around 9:00 am and were seated outside on a shaded patio. The patio faces into the landscape of a corporate office park. Families were strolling and photographing toddlers playing on the grass. Other patrons were seated at social distanced tables. The wait staff wore masks and gloves and were very attentive. The menu was substantial and not limited. Lots of choices. My friend and I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. We both had French toast as a side. He had his steak in the traditional white gravy and I had mine with red Chile. If you haven't had a chicken fried steak with red Chile you are missing out on one of the simple pleasures of life. Both meals were substantial and served hot from the kitchen with eggs cooked to order. Our coffee was topped off without us having to ask. And we didn't feel rushed. We enjoyed visiting almost to hours. The NM morning was perfect and really set the tone for a great start to what turned out to be a very hot day in Albuquerque. I drove down from Santa Fe to Albuquerque. The food and service warranted a good tip before the restrictions took place again. Not a bad way to start the day. I will make sure to return...
