I requested an accessible room due to one of us being in a wheelchair. We were given a terrible room, first floor, not accessible, smelled bad, and in complete disrepair. Specifically, broken lamp switches, cabinet with the fridge wouldn't close properly, flimsy night stand, just so many issues that we didn't notice upon check in.
It had been a long travel day, we were rushing out to a concert, and my brain was fried so it didn't even occur to me to request a different room until the next morning. This was after getting back from the concert, I went so far as to have called several other hotels looking to book with them instead. Luckily, at 2am I didn't have any luck with that.
The next morning, with a fresh brain, I asked at the front desk about the room. The person there wasn't much help. Just kept telling me the hotel was sold out. It took many questions from me before I was able to get the information that our room was not wheelchair accessible.
This is when Brian came into the conversation and saved our stay! He was able to locate an accessible room that had been left available due to needing some repairs. Brian had maintenance work on it first thing and called me when it was ready. It was very quick! The repairs must have been easy because they had them done within 30 minutes.
The new room was on the 2nd floor and definitely wheelchair accessible! No bad smells, everything was great. The difference was night and day we went from feeling like we were in a seedy motel to feeling like we were in a good hotel! Brian not only saved our stay, he went above and beyond (without even seeming like he was doing this) to give us the room we needed. In doing this he prevented a bad review. He was genuinely friendly and helpful.
Other areas for review.
Pool- We didn't use it so I'm unsure if it was open.
Parking- Plenty of parking.
Breakfast- very good. Lots of choices, the lady making it was very nice. Highest pro: touchless pancake maker! Wave your hand, batter is dropped into a conveyer type oven/cooker. Then two finished pancakes are dropped onto a plate. I've never seen anything like it before and recommend every hotel get one. Con: Another review mentioned the only meat was bacon and I agree sausage would have been nice. Also, the smell of bacon permeated throughtout the first floor and it wasn't a pleasant bacon smell. I'd say overwhelming.
Key card- we also had the issue with the card reader not working and had to have the cards rekeyed several times. This was quick and luckily quick and not that much of an inconvenience.
Shower- great pressure, the accessible bathroom was wonderful.
Bed- very comfortable and I slept great.
Ada accessibility- the accessible room was great. The lobby entrance really needs an automatic door. It was difficult for the person in a wheelchair to open both sets of doors to get into the lobby from the parking lot.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it. However, keep in mind not all rooms are the same. Good news is they are working to upgrade each room. Brian took the first room we were given off the availability list so that it would be...
Read moreI got kicked and out of my room by a very argumentative staff I was with 2 children in the middle of the night. He had little to no regards that all rooms were sold out in albq.
Well I was enjoying my stays. Despite the sketchy check in guy. I am a single mother who does visitations with her kids on weekends. This was a decent place with breakfast and a pool. They are right next door to an abandoned building are are right off the freeway. My children and I came back from a late night of door dashing. The parking lot is packed. With only one spot for a fiat type car. But I have my 2 children get out of the car so I may back in. As soon as we entered the parking lot we noticed a very odd man standing under the carport just watching intensely. My kids and I think it the front person but not to sure. We left the room key in the car so my daughter crawls back in and searches. My son and I notice the man still intensely watching. So I asked my son to go and ask the guy if it's the front desk person if he needs anything. For all I know there could be a misunderstanding. I couldn't leave my daughter to search the car while I go and speak to the guy. Which is why I sent my son. I figure this is a crime ridden area I'm worried about it so I assume the staff member maybe as well. So I sent my 11 year old son. So it's not mistaken for a threatening or escalating gesture. But boy was I wrong. Because my son is returning with the staff. So I approach and ask if everything is ok. And I quote the staff member asked me "Why I sent a child to harass him". I was baffled. This man was well into mid 50s or 60s and he felt threatened by a 11 old boy who was asking a question ⁉️🤔 I tried to explain that it's albq and midnight I'm a single mother with 2 young children staying at hotel that's by the freeway and a abandoned building with a sketchy looking guy just watching. He came out yelling, threatened me and started saying he was gonna call the police and charge me with child abuse. Because I seem paranoid so I must be on alcohol or drugs. And said he was kicking me out of my room.
Later I spoke to management who hung up on me saying he wasn't gonna speak to someone who was being dishonest. He barely listened to my side of the story for maybe 2mins and showed no real interests in the situation. No refund for the room I didn't even stay in. Based of previous reviews and even their own staff member states that this employee who kicked me out is very confrontational and like to pick fights. Also, management claims that the reason I was kicked out which this is the reason from the night staff, that he got multiple complaints about me arguing. However the only argument I had was with the night staff who started the argument and started yelling at me.
Please avoid this hotel. Staff is anything but professional. That is including management. You have an assistant manager who is falsely reporting her progress to her superiors, a night front desk who is very moody and rude. He literally watched my kids and I for 10 mins fighting with the soda pop vending machine to take out 5 dollar bills. When he he knew it only...
Read moreMy mom and I were in town for the night on our way home from Chicago. After reading reviews on Booking.com and trying to find a good compromise between price and ratings, I settled on The Greentree Inn. It had a relatively high score, good reviews, and a great price for such short notice.
Things seemed promising when we first arrived. I liked that the lobby was open for our late-night check-in. The location was great, the parking lot was nice and well-lit, and the check-in process was painless enough. The gentleman who checked us in wasn't overly friendly, but he wasn't rude. Anyhow, we completed check-in and then went to get a bite to eat.
The return was when things took a bad turn. There was a different person at the desk this time. When they watched me push in the loaded luggage cart, they didn't greet me or say anything friendly. Instead, they snapped, "Don't take the cart." I thought they were joking at first, but they had the most serious, sour look on their face. When I asked them what they meant, they said "Don't keep the cart in your room," in an accusatory voice. If that's a constant issue that the hotel is having with guests, I understand addressing it, but there is a way to handle it politely and pleasantly. Let me reiterate, this person never said "hello" or "welcome." They were not friendly in any way. It was a terrible first impression.
My room wasn't a roach motel. The bathroom appeared clean, and the beds looked and smelled fine. They didn't provide a microwave, as many have addressed, but I didn't really need one (I came in to sleep and leave) besides, I should've read the listing better. I was too exhausted to notice the bed. My mom says her bed was extremely uncomfortable. The TV wasn't great, both the condition of the unit, and the channels available.
The only other horrible situation besides the rude greeting was the refrigerator. I opened it to put a water bottle, and the stench made me gag. It smelled like some food had rotted in there. While the food had been removed, it hadn't been properly sanitized or cleaned. It almost made me lose my dinner.
We woke up in the morning, loaded up, and checked out. I didn't try the breakfast (there is a Denny's close by), so I cannot give an opinion on that.
Unlike the night person, the lady who helped me check out that morning was incredibly friendly and helpful. I really wish she had been there to greet me the night before. I also wish I could remember her name, because she was the bright spot of my stay.
Overall, it was an okay place to sleep and leave. If you need a cheap, adequate place to bunk for a night or two, it's the place for you. If you're looking for a more comfortable, pleasant atmosphere, you might want to...
