Crossroads Tavern — Restaurant in Alexandria

WOW. Incredible. Today I am limo driving for some clients and dropped them off at The Diamond Restaurant and decided to walk to this place “The Levee Bar”. Upon approaching I noticed it was inside the hotel so I thought I was “settling” for this place. I wanted to try the Pork Shanks but due to covid shortage they were out and again I thought I was “settling” for the Old Timer Burger with sweet potato fries and ordered the Boudin Wontons as a side. Boy was I wrong. I hit the jackpot. Perfect trio together. The wontons are crispy and topped with powdered sugar and syrup, they are the best I’ve ever had. The burger was even more mouth watering, perfect juicy burger, the bun is soft and fresh, vegetables fresh, and the caramelized onions and mushrooms are perfect. All 3 together just made me so happy. This is not a restaurant by my standards. Fast food is more of a restaurant than this place.

They claim to close at 8pm, but their kitchen closes much earlier. They just have left over, pre-prepared food in a glass case and you have to choose from this. They lock the refrigerator so even something pathetically simple like chips with nacho cheese can't be prepared by their bartender. Imagine not allowing a bartender to microwave some canned nacho cheese. 😳

They only get an extra star for their bartender who is obviously left in a bad situation by the management of the hotel and food service.

If you want a meal at the downtown Holiday Inn, then use Doordash. This place is only good...

Atmosphere is great..customer service was also great!! I wasn’t so excited about the “bland” taste in the food choice I made. I opted for the grilled chicken salad and asked that it be blackened as I knew I would be able to get a more savory piece of chicken if blackened opposes to it just being grilled. Well the waiter told me my chicken was blackened but my lunch buddy had the grilled chicken salad and her chicken looked exactly as mine appeared. Blackened chicken should have “blackened appearance.
