Did a little research via reviews prior to visiting with my wife for the first time, so I kind of knew what to expect. The menu had changed up quite of bit from what was online and that was a little disappointing because we had kind of already picked out what we were going to order; but things happen. So we get there and get seated right away. We did call earlier that afternoon and knew that there was going to be a large party of 30 that was going to be there around 6:00 so we were prepared for that as well. It is very pretty inside and knowing that the Bentley Hotel has over 100 years of history, it fit right in to what we had expected. Our waitress was very nice, knowledgeable and suggestive about things on the menu; so that was nice since things had change. We were prepared to eat a good bit and spend a nice dime; we ordered appetizers and the meal. It took nearly an hour to get the appetizer but I did mention we were behind a large party and we were fine. My wife was addressed shortly thereafter about them running out of her main dish which was a let down because there was a lot of thought and consideration that went in to that selection but she made another pick and it proved to be a very nice selection. She ordered the salmon on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes and I had the ribeye with mac and cheese. Hers looked like it came out of a magazine and she said that it was wonderful. My steak was cooked medium and had a great flavor. The mac and cheese was not what I had expected and the bowtie pasta was under cooked and had no flavor. The crab cakes were big and tasted great; too much mustard sauce so I wished I would have gotten it on the side. The spinach and artichoke dip was excellent. So over all it gets a 4-4.5 stars in my opinion. I would go...
Read moreI planned to have a group of 10 all meet at the Bentley Room for my husband’s birthday. Being around the holidays, I knew they may have odd hours so I called a week before and spoke to a manager. The lady was nice and informed me they would indeed be open that day and would be willing to serve us. So the morning of, I called the restaurant again to just let them know what time we would all be there and there would be 10 of us. A rude hostess told me that she could not make a reservation only a manager could and there were no managers there to help me. I told her that was fine and we all proceeded to arrive at the restaurant thinking we would just wait on a table or sit a tables beside each other… no big deal. We walked in and told the hostess how many and she said we can’t come because we didn’t have a reservation. Firstly, I tried to make a reservation. Secondly, if we could not be seated, that should have been stated on the phone when I called that morning so we could have made different plans. I’m normally super relaxed and understanding to restaurant staff because I myself worked in restaurants for years, but this was ridiculous. Every time before this instance, my family has always enjoyed our food and the server Bobby has alway taken great care of us. Unfortunately I’m not sure we will be returning after all this. So sad to have such bad service in such a nice establishment. The young girls at the front ruined the whole experience. Hopefully Spirits will open brunch again. Do not bring big groups here the staff obviously...
Read more7/16/22 came for dinner at 5:50 P.M. and there was no crowd at all. Things started moving a shaking shortly thereafter, though (closer to 6:30 P.M.).
The dinner that my dinner guest and I ate was delicious!!! Lamb pops: FANTASTIC! GET YOU SOME! Shrimp and corn bisque: Pass it up. Get another order of lamb chops instead 🙂🙃 Red beans and rice with fried chicken (fried chicken tenders): ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! The chciken tenders must have beenarinating for a while in some good seasoning because they really are great--condiments like ketchup are really not needed. The red beans and rice has chicken pieces cooked in it. Stuffed redfish: fish was great--the stuffing? Not too tasty. Green beans!!! 5/5 Mashed potatoes: 5/5!!
I will be back soon to try more items!
3 stars for breakfast 12/05/21 came in for the first time approximately at 10:30
The Hostess Ms. Alyssa was very cordial and seated us quickly. The ambiance of the place was quiet/pleasant.
It was weird that this part of the hotel is not as spectacular as the other areas of the hotel.
As far as the food? For brunch...the grits ordered were DELICIOULSY CHEESY AND BUTTERY!
The French Toast entree came out cold and the toast was burnt. This was disappointing. Why serve someone an order that is clearly visible of being toasted too much/burnt? Too pricy for low quality.
5/5 stars for the customer service. This place is...
