Found this place while working downtown this week, looked at the menu then came back that night with my family to surprise them with something new. They weren't the only ones in for a surprise, because I got another pleasant one when we walked in to discover a live 3-piece jazz band playing on stage. The waitress recommended the Stix appetizer, which was artisan bread sticks with Asiago cream sauce and also marinara sauce..had never eaten Asiago cream sauce but it was so good I believe I could have eaten the container it came in. For our entrees my wife and I shared the Chauvin pasta plate with blackened fish, and the Blue Ghost pizza with creme fraiche and seasoned chicken amongst several great spices and peppers. The Blue Ghost pizza comes topped with a few slices of boiled egg which I'm not a fan of, but I picked them off, gave them to my wife, and let me tell you the pizza was excellent, including the crust. My son got the 5 Pepper pasta with Parmesan chicken which was also excellent upon my sampling. This is a great place. The atmosphere is as great as the food and service. It's so good to see downtown coming back, and this restaurant is certainly a jewel to be experienced while enjoying an evening downtown on...
Read moreThis place is great. I've been several times during downtown functions just to grab a quick drink. We went to see the Blindfold Blues Band play this weekend and it was a really fun experience. Even though they were really busy, our server was prompt and courteous, our food was on point, and the house lemonade (peach on the night we went) was really wonderful too. The music wasn't too loud or too soft. The atmosphere was really nice too. I highly suggest the crab dip and crab nachos for appetizers and their pizza options are great too. The bathrooms were clean and I like that there's key pad entry from the street (there's a long hall that the bathrooms are in and the doors go straight to the street... this isn't a main entrance). I felt comfortable sending my kids to the bathroom without having to follow them. Our kids really enjoyed it as well. And as picky as they are, they really liked the pizza. I didn't see anything gross or that needed to be fixed. I mean, I guess if I had to suggest something... I'd request purse hooks in the women's bathroom maybe :) We'll be dining...
Read moreFound Embers online and decided to check it out. I will definitely return. The pizza was amazing. They have their own pizza sauce which had a great flavor. everything was crafted and presented wonderfully. My wife loved her watermelon summer salad. The dos chicken tacos had way too much sriracha, it really took away from the other flavors of the taco ingredients. There was many things I wanted to try on the menu but obviously couldn't try it all in one sitting. They're an artisan food restaurant so the menu must change a bunch. I saw three different menus online and none were what we were given when we were seated. The prices were very good for the quality, presentation and portion. We were there on a Friday night and enjoyed the live entertainment. The volume was what I expected it to be, but was too loud for my wife. You had to talk into each other's ears. The problem wasn't the DB (I'm an audio production engineer so I checked things out) it was only around 78db (A weighted). The problem was the frequencies in their mix tied with their cheap speaker...
