We decided to try a new Mexican spot in Old Town. We found street parking easily nearby early Sunday afternoon.
Cute colorful restaurant! We were greeted and seated immediately when we arrived. There were maybe 3 or 4 tables total occupied during our visit so not too busy on a Sunday afternoon. There is outdoor seating as well.
Our server, who was very friendly, hyped the premium margarita so we gave in and said yes. We also tried the passionfruit margarita. The premium was strong but that's probably what you're going for anyway 😀 The passionfruit margarita was delicious but not strong at all.
We tried the chips and dip and the Platanos Fritos (plantains with sour cream) to start. Chips were fresh and hot. Salsa was a bit creamy. Never had it like this before but the taste was pretty good. Plantains were perfect!
While we didn't order the Guac ( Guacamole Molcajete) , it was brought to our table. We found it to be on the bland side with no hints of cilantro, onion, lime or salt. We saw a few bits of tomato but it tasted just like a plain smashed avocado. Not something we would order again.
We decided to try all the street tacos except the vegetarian so we could taste everything. Steak, chicken, fish, shrimp, ground beef, pork (al pastor), carnitas.
We also got the 3 street taco platter that came with the Mexican rice and beans.
We found the shrimp and fish tacos to be lacking in the quantity of meat. But they were flavorful.
The chicken, while plentiful, was dry even with the sauce.
The steak, al pastor and carnitas were all packed with meat and delicious but both our Al Pastor tacos were missing the pineapple.
The ground beef was my personal favorite but was very greasy.
The Mexican rice and pinto beans....Both were just ok.
Overall, food was ok we were expecting a bit more flavor. Service was great. Pricing was a bit higher than what we usually pay for a...
Read moreIf I could give this restaurant more stars, I would. Yesterday we flew in late. It was 10 pm at night and due to COVID, all food spots on Kings St were all closed. When we saw Los Cuates restaurant lights on we figured they would still be open. We parked and walked to the restaurant. As soon as we open the door, the hostess tells us that they were already closing. Since we hadn’t eaten anything since 1-2 pm my son was starving. As soon as he heard that they were closed he began to cry... The hostess immediately consoled him and told us to hold a moment while she sorted something out for us. As much as we asked not to worry about it, that we understood that they were closing, she begged us to please give her a moment to go to the kitchen and see what she can do. This women whom I think was an angel sent from God, went to the back, got on the phone and called her boss. He didn’t hesitate to tell her to sit us down and serve us even though they were already closed. He personally drove to the shop and cooked for us him self. All the staff were so nice, humble, and very helpful and made our evening one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. They didn’t have to attend us. They could have told us they were closed and could have pushed us out the door BUT, they didn’t. They took care of us. The food was very nicely plated and the food was amazing! After our meal, the owner came and introduced himself. He welcomed us and even invited us a margarita on the house, which we respectful declined as they had already done so much for us.
To everyone at the restaurant that took care of us last night, I am completely grateful and humbled for such an amazing experience. You guys are all proof that good people still exist in this world.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Respectfully,

Read moreMy husband and I visited for lunch. As we waited for our order we ordered the medium sized mango margarita’s. The waitress was kind to give us chips and salsa as we waited. The salsa had good flavor but was very watery.
We ordered two Al Pastor Burritos to-go. I wish we stayed to eat because I would have returned my food. My burrito was so salty that I couldn’t eat it. Salty does not equal flavor. If it wasn’t too much of a hassle to go back I would’ve gone back to get my money back. The rice and beans accompanied with it was meh. It’s like they took the salt from the rice and beans and added it all to the burrito.
I also think they are over priced for the portion of food you receive. For two lunch burritos and two mango margaritas the bill came out to $68. A total waste.
I won’t be returning to this restaurant. I’d prefer Taco Bell’s over this place. Taco Bell’s give same portion and better flavoring then this salty, flavorless and meh restaurant. Might I add Mexican food is by far my favorite food and never have I ever had such...
