It was a novel spot, mostly windows with mostly windows seating. They were able to seat us, although they did ask if we had a reservation as we walked in. The table was comfortable and there was plenty of space, but we were right next to a door (which I didn’t immediately realize) that seemed to be higher traffic then the door on the opposite side. My husband got a Mediterranean style bowl which had said was decent, especially after he added the vegan sausage and hot sauce. There was quinoa and sautéd spinach as the base, with a sun-dried tomato puree, poached egged, avocado and a dill yogurt sauce. He also got his standard unsweetened iced tea. I got the steak and eggs, which came with a diced potato with onions and peppers. The steak was well prepared, seasoned lightly with a lemony chimichurri style purée and the egg whisked and fried omelet style. I also ordered the hot turmeric and ginger tea with honey. Apart from the subpar music that was so loud the server kept asking us to repeat ourselves whenever we spoke to her, and being charged for unsweet ice tea refills, the place was a reasonable breakfast spot. The food okay, but not spectacular, the service okay, the restaurant definitely seemed to be going for ‘trendy.’ The surrounding park area outside the restaurant was charming, right in between two tall (residential?) buildings. It was also very family friendly. There were at least four separate groups with small kids. There also seemed to be a large group of about 8-10 adults and kids. I’d say make a reservation, better tables in this small restaurant space.

We have always enjoyed our visits to Kaldi’s Social near Claredon metro station, so when we learned about the new Kaldi’s in National Landing, we were eager to try it for breakfast this morning. We found it to be quite enjoyable. The location features a standalone building in front of two intriguing sculptures by Larry Kirkland, set within a pleasant small park. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the staff. The interior boasts a lovely green plant wall and a central bar, complemented by trendy custom furniture that provides comfortable seating and thoughtfully designed sturdy wood tables and chairs. We also appreciated the small details, such as the bag hangers located under the bar. The food exceeded our expectations. The Buttermilk Waffles were freshly made with a fluffy texture, complemented by hickory syrup and vanilla cream. The Croque Madame was expertly toasted, featuring eggs, prosciutto, and a flavorful Mornay sauce, while the Steak & Egg was both nutritious and satisfying. The coffee offered a pleasant balance of acidity and strength, which we liked. Service was commendable, with attentive staff enhancing our experience. We look forward to returning for more breakfast options or perhaps for drinks at this stylish venue whenever we are nearby.

The food (chicken& waffles plus the chicken benedict) was mediocre at best otherwise I probably wouldn’t have cared about the price. The potatoes had zero seasoning and the waitress (Diego C) took so long to come check on us that we gave up on getting salt and pepper while they were hot. The chicken was well seasoned but fatty. We assumed it’s because they use chicken thighs. Not a cut of chicken I prefer for breakfast or brunch. Even the mimosas were average. I wanted more coffee but again our waitress disappeared at length so only after we finally got her attention to get the check and paid, did she then ask if I wanted more coffee. I didn’t at that point. We even ordered a few pastries to go and we had to get up and say we were leaving. Even then she said “bye” and we reminded her we’re still due for the pastries we paid for. Very odd but perhaps she was new. She was nice enough but needs to work on following up and checking in on her customers. It was far from busy. If we ever visit again, perhaps we will stick to the chocolate and almond croissants we got at the end. They were good and so was the coffee.

Great design and set up! Very friendly staff. Happy to have this establishment in the neighborhood. I've had better experience with the food options on the happy hour menu. Ordered the breakfast platter and sadly it was underwhelming and was composed of low grade quality of ingredients - thinly sliced microwaved bacon, the waffles were deflated and was similar to the quality and taste of Eggo waffles, just a slight tier up. The breakfast potatoes were hard as if they were frozen and over-fried. Truly expected higher quality and a more enjoyable breakfast if paying $20 for a breakfast platter and for the atmosphere of the establishment. I would not order this again. This is one food option that left me very unsatisfied, however there may be a signature dish that's of better quality on the menu that I have not discovered as yet. I'll make one more attempt at trying a food item on the lunch or dinner menu to compare, but for now coffee and drinks seems to be win!

UPDATING REVIEW TO 5 STARS: here’s why….

Customer service is at the heart of this business. Met with the owner, an outstanding person who truly cares about his customers and is forward thinking on the needs and satisfaction of patrons. It’s admirable and refreshing to see. The menu is still evolving, with updates planned to enhance the dining experience. As I mentioned it’s a great establishment, I’m really impressed with how my feedback was handled and what’s on the horizon to incorporate slight enhancements. Thank you for the space to share and the openness to receive. Once again, welcome to the neighborhood. Looking forward to seeing the improvements and excited to try more...
