Rice Family — Restaurant in Allentown

I was very diappointed with the service we waited over an hour for delivery when they told us 40 minutes. We ordered a large shrimp and broccoli and received a small rice and 8 shrimps with the "large" order was told they were "jumbo" shrimp when they look like medium shrimps a tray full of broccoli for $13. The broccoli was under cooked and discolored I order the same thing from other restaurants and get a decent amount of food never ever complain but this was ridiculous. We had already started to eat when we realized that we had a tray of just brocolli and 8 little shrimps. I have ordered many times from here never complained and when I did i was accused of wanting free food when I never even asked for my money back. Very poor customer service they argued with me over the phone saying that all i want was to eat free. He said dont eat the food i will tell the driver pick up the food and give you your many back. I told him they already ate some of the food im not asking for my money back just making you aware this is not right. i paid for my food and tipped the driver $19.91 with tax tip and he has the nerve to say i want to eat for free and when I tell him i will leave a review he stated he doesnt care and what did I want to do. My response is i dont want nothing but for you to stop cheating people he stated shrimp is expensive. Ok but i paid for it i didnt ask for it for free and he hung up on...

I always give good reviews to small business owners and small restaurants. When i have bad experience at a small restaurant i just choose not to leave a review. But this place was horrible!

The food tasted really bad. I tried general tso’s chicken which looked or tasted ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like general tso’s chicken. The shrimp lo mein was overcooked and tasted horrible.

Their customer service was 50-50. Restaurant was very poorly lit, dark and shabby. Looked quite dirty because there was all sorts of junk that they ought to store in the back right at the front of the restaurant where people are supposed to sit. There were kids lying on the booths (where customers are supposed to sit) and playing on their iPad.

The food was delivered to our car because we didn’t want to sit in the dark and dirty interior. But the food was delivered without silverware or napkins. When I went back inside to ask, I was given 3 very small napkins for...

So here’s the deal: the folks at Rice Family are super nice. Polite, friendly, quick-service. I ordered and blinked twice, and boom — food was in my hands. No complaints there. Honestly, I wish every takeout spot moved that fast.

Now, the food itself… oof. I got General Tso’s chicken with vegetable fried rice, and let me just say: it felt like the chicken was on a secret mission to become a soup. I opened the container and was greeted by a tidal wave of oily, soggy chicken pieces swimming around like they had floaties on. The “fried” part of fried rice got drowned in the process, so the rice was basically sitting there saying “help, I can’t swim.”

Flavor-wise? Let’s just say I wouldn’t eat this for free — and you know I’m usually down bad for free food.

I respect the effort and the kindness of the staff, but I personally won’t be back. Rice Family is fast, polite, and generous… but food-wise, this was less “General Tso” and more “Private First...
