We came here for a birthday and had a good time. Solid drinks and food. The staff were all friendly and accommodating.

Drinks: I got the Citizen Mule which was really good. Few friends got the Old Fashioned and Granny's Peach Tea. Only qualm is he said the Peach Tea was more like a spiked lemonade with no peach flavor.

Food: Apps - - We ordered the Short Rib Empanadas, Brussel Sprouts, Burrata, French Fries and Fried Okra. I'm not a fan of okra, but this was pretty good. The Burrata most didn't really like. The Fries weren't really anything crazy. The Empanadas and the Brussel Sprouts were very good. If I had to choose one, I'd go with the Empanadas.

Mains - - I ordered the Salmon and the Scalloped Potatoes. The Salmon is really good overall as a dish. It's a good amount of creamed corn which could get "tiring" after a bit, but the flavors were excellent. The Scalloped Potatoes were very good and I recommend that. I may try a different main next time, not because the Salmon was bad, but to see if there's something I may like more. A couple others ordered the Black Garlic Shrimp and the Short Ribs and really liked them.

Dessert: We just got some beignets. They were good but it was not anything amazing. It was probably a bit overdone and dry.

Staff and Ambiance: No complaints here. Everyone was friendly accommodating, and informative. The seats and tables are comfortable and not where you're elbox to elbow with others at the table or even with neighboring parties.

Overall: Despite the fact I had some relatively subjective and minor reservations about the food, we really enjoyed the food and staff overall. We'll probably come here again when in Alpharetta or for...

First time at Citizen Soul to celebrate our anniversary, was excited to try the food and atmosphere that is now Alpharetta on a Friday night. Reservation made on google, efficiently processed. Arrive 10 mins early and seated immediately, restaurant had a good vibe. 3 people seated and ordered 2 starters to share and 3 mains. No offer of wine, glasses were just removed from table. Complimentary water served. Drinks order brought the table all separately, soft drinks left on table no glasses, had to ask for them. Starters arrived but only 1, again we had to call server back and surprised she said she didn’t put order in!!! Again had to ask for plates for sharing starters. So 1 starter was finished before salad arrived. What’s the point, the salad while good was lacking on the subtle veggie/bacon ingredients. 3 mains arrived again separately, dining is about everyone getting their meal at the same time and it wasn’t that there were not enough people or bussers around to help deliver food. We were offered the desert menu said yes but server brought the bill!! Again we asked for the menu. At this stage we decided to pass and order ice cream in another establishment. While reviewing Citizens menu and finishing our drinks we completed the bill and chatted. The server was eager to get the bill off the table and by now we said a strong NO to be left to finish our drinks. Never have I had a service that was so inconsistent, she was just not clued in and did not give the impression that she was new in anyway. Overall, not excited to come back, food good, service poor, value for money below average in comparison to other eateries in Main Street and Avalon. Disappointed all round....

We had another great visit to Citizen Soul. I went with my husband, and we both enjoyed our meal and drinks. I ordered an espresso martini and asked for a splash of Baileys, which made it creamier and slightly sweet, but still nice and strong. My husband ordered his drink neat.

For food, we shared the charcuterie, pimento cheese fritters, brussels sprouts, and braised short rib empanadas. Everything was delicious overall. The empanadas were flavorful and well-seasoned, though I would have liked a bit more meat inside and a flakier pastry. The brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly, and the addition of pork belly added a delicate, rich touch that I really enjoyed. The fritters were insanely delicious. They have this weird, but satisfying “cheese wiz” flavor, but I promise, the flavors work so well together!

The charcuterie board was great, but I was surprised that it didn’t include cheese automatically. You have to order the fromage separately, which I wish had been included. I also would have liked a few more condiments on the side to balance the flavors.

You can really feel Chef Sean Clark’s creativity and vision in the menu. The bar service was a highlight as well—the bartender was welcoming and ensured we had a hospitable experience. The service felt genuine and attentive, which made the whole evening even more enjoyable. This was our second visit, and we’re already looking forward to...

Had an absolutely stellar dinner at Citizen Soul tonight—hands down one of the best spots in Alpharetta for elevated Southern soul food with a modern twist. We shared the crab cakes (crispy perfection with a zesty remoulade) and grilled octopus (tender, smoky, and bursting with flavor from the charred edges). For mains, the redfish was flaky and buttery, seared just right with a light herb crust, and the fried chicken… oh man, that fried chicken was a revelation. It was gluten-free (which is huge for my wife, who’s strictly gluten-intolerant), and it didn’t skimp on the crunch or juiciness one bit—crispy exterior, moist inside, seasoned like a dream. Pro tip: Almost everything on their menu is naturally gluten-free or can be made that way, so it’s a safe haven for anyone with dietary restrictions without feeling like a compromise. Service was top-notch from start to finish—our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and made spot-on recommendations without hovering. The vibe is warm and inviting, with a cozy patio that’s perfect for cooler evenings. Prices are fair for the quality, and we’ll be back soon to try more from their creative lineup. If you’re in Alpharetta and craving soulful eats that cater to everyone, Citizen Soul is a must-visit. Highly recommend! 🇺🇸🍗
