With BBQ being my personal favorite kind of food to enjoy, it was only a matter of time before I was on the prowl to try another BBQ restaurant in the area. I'm only looking because my favorite one in the area closed down a while back and I need to find a new one to frequent. So off I go to Jack's! To start, property is nice. Free parking lot, inside and outside seating available and both are comfy. They are primarily a BBQ restaurant but they also have other things to enjoy and have alcohol if you're feeling boozy. The inside of the restaurant also has a Stubborn soda machine, some sweet tea containers, and water available. I like how they have a shelf near the drink machine with condiments and to go materials. Makes these items easily accessible without having to bother anyone to get them. Also, as all BBQ restaurants should have, they have wet-naps!
Onto the main event, the food! Overall, solid A- in my opinion and here's why. I ordered the dish called The Holy Trinity. It consisted of 2 sausages (1 cajun and 1 jalapeño cheddar), 1/2 lb brisket (that you can request primarily meat, primarily marble, or half & half), half rack of pork ribs, and buttered Texas Toast. It also comes with 4 sides. Sides I chose were their Mac & Cheese, Cowboy Beans, Cream Corn, and Mashed Sweet Potatoes. As for the BBQ meats, all A1. Every last one was BANGIN'! Fall off the bone ribs and brisket easily came apart to enjoy. All juicy and tender. Where a bit of weakness comes in is the sides. This seems to be the off point with almost all BBQ restaurants I've tried in the area. They're not at all disgusting but all seem like they're... missing something. They have salt and pepper available on the aforementioned shelf but that may not be the something that is missing for everyone and these alone may not be enough to help make them more enjoyable to eat. In short, the actual BBQ is a hit, the sides may leave something to be desired.
If BBQ is your thing, these folks are definitely worth a try. I definitely plan to come back to try more of the menu so don't remove those Quesa-Birria Brisket Tacos from your menu anytime...
Read moreI've been meaning to go here since they opened as I am a huge BBQ fan. I have been making my own smoked BBQ and sauces for over 30 years. I've stopped at every BBQ joint across this great Nation so this time it was Jack's Feed Store's turn.
Loved the building layout with both inside and outside seating. The place was packed yet the line moved pretty fast and so did the seating. Service was great, prompt and with a smile.
Now for the food. I ordered the MOJO Smoked Wings, there was no smoking going on here, these are baked the charred a touch and tossed in a great tasting sauce. All in the wings were good but remove the word "Smoked" as there was none.
For lunch I had the Flippin Good, 1/2 rack pork ribs and Brisket along with two sides, cowboy beans and jalapeno cream corn. Both the ribs and brisket were over cooked and dried out. The ribs were so hard I couldn't cut them so I tore one off and tried to eat it but couldn't, it was horrible. Onto the brisket, it had none of the spongy pull you look for in a perfectly cooked brisket. It was very dry and also hard to chew.
The cowboy beans were awesome, love them, lots of bold flavors. However, the jalapeno cream corn lacked flavors, I was looking for the jalapeno bite but never found it.
I ordered To-Go Burnt ends and the brisket tacos. When I got home I was missing the burnt ends, they forget them. Shame. But, the brisket tacos with the Consomme dipping sauce was spot on.
TIP: Parking is sparse.
Would I come here again? No. I don't want to take the chance of being so disappointed again. Besides, there are so many great BBQ places around I'd rather go to...
Read moreI tried this restaurant for the first time. I was greeted by two very friendly and patient ladies who were awesome and gave great recommendations. Having never been there before we tried 4 different meats and 4 different sides just to get a good overall taste of their food and spent over $80. I told the lady who took my order that I wanted some of the food boxed up and she shared that there are to go containers over in the corner that I can use. She also shared that if when I leave if I want sauce to go come to the counter and she would be happy to give me some. After eating I boxes my remaining and went to the counter and asked for sauce. This time there was a guy at the register and I politely asked for some sauce to go. He told me that I would need to pay for an 8 oz container of barbecue sauce. I shared that i just spent $80 on my food plus a tip ($90) with the intentions of taking most of my food home and was told to come to the counter for to-go sauce. He responded in a very smug manner that he understands but at some point he would charge me for the sauce and I would need to pay $8. Now I brought to the register some ice cream bars to try as I really wanted to support this establishment. This guys was not budging when meanwhile people were picking up to go orders and being offered barbecue sauce. I guess their rule is if you eat your food in their restaurant and then need to take your remaining food home then you would need to purchase some sauce. The guy was so smug and rude that I will never come back. It’s ashamed because the food was pretty good and I would have likely returned...
