Cold Stone Creamery — Restaurant in Amarillo

This is going to be a cheesy, or should I say creamy, review but; I just had some ice-cream door dashed to my hotel I’m staying at and let me just say, you guys brightened the end of my very dark day. I’ve been traveling cross country for the last two days with my cat & dog and I am EXHAUSTED. Today was full of rude customer service at food places, rude gas station employees and rude drivers. When I saw that Cold Stone was available on Door Dash, I jumped on it; because who doesn’t get cheered up by ice cream. Now here’s where the cheesy (or creamy) part comes. When I ordered it, I asked for it to be in Gotta have it containers because i knew it would melt some when the driver brought it. When I received my door dash from my lovely door dash driver, my ice creams were in the Mine size with a note that said “Sorry, we are out of Gotta-Have it lids, so I put it in a mine container. -Enjoy :)” I don’t know what it was about this little piece of paper; maybe the little smiley face did it, maybe it was the excellent grammar, or just the simple act of putting it in the container. All I know is that it made me feel happy and appreciated as a customer. It’s the little things that make a difference. I thank whoever wrote the note, made my order, is the store manager and who is hiring such bright and kind individuals. :)

Bottom line here? I LOVE Coldstone Creamery but this location has me wondering what's going on here...?! 1st the manager or owner (is this a franchise location? ) was pre-occupied with whatever so much so that we felt neglected. He was standing right there with an employee and made no attempt to address us as we waited too long for service. Nor did he get his employees to step up. It was entirely irritating - not something you want when you're expecting to pay a premium price for a premium ice-cream with great service to go with it. But what really had me wondering is that the ice cream was very definitely different than any Coldstone I've been to. I'm a long time ice-cream aficionado that knows the difference between the ice cream at 31 Flavors, Marble Slab, Etc... Coldstone is Supposed to have near to 18% butter fat content similar to Hagen-Daz (more than the Marble Slabs 16% & 31 Flavors 14%).I know the difference and the ice-cream was not up to par for Coldstone. It made me think that something funny was going on ....? Could it be that he was substituting some other ice-cream for the real thing? I'm certain it would cost...

My fiancé and I came here to try another ice cream place in town. At first we tried Sweet Charlie’s (which did set the bar really high) and sought to try another one. We had the birthday cake remix and banana caramel crunch. The ice cream really good. I particularly liked the birthday cake remix more than the banana caramel crunch; however both were delicious. I definitely will get much more ice cream here in the years to come. Cold stone creamery is a good competitor to sweet Charlie’s for unique ice cream in town. Also, big kudos to the staff. They got that late night rush and was able to get everyone’s ice cream to them as quickly as they could without much delay. Keep up...
