So on a recent road trip we stopped by Hoffbrau Steak & Grill. I had eaten at Hoffbrau Steaks in Denver Co and had a great meal. Thinking it has been a while since the last visit, hoping it will be as good. I was with my Dad and my brother on this visit. Dad ordered the King Burger $15.99, this has Jack and Cheddar cheese and regular burger garnish, plus fries. He really enjoyed it. My brother ordered the Cowtown Chicken Fried Steak,$19.99 with baked potato and green beans, This Plate had a Chile relleno with pico on top of the C.F.S.. His plate looked great, and I tried it, Loved it. I ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad $20.99. The salad comes with chopped eggs, bacon bits, cheese, and tomatoes. Honestly, folks I really am trying to promote restaurants in my critique and I feel like I'm getting better at this. However, there are times when I have to be brutally honest. This was one of the worst salads I have ever eaten, it beat out the Caesar salad I had at the Lone Star S.H. ( see pics) as the worst. At first when they placed it front of me I was like " Wow" this looks good. But as I started eating I started noticing, the Salmon was not Atlantic Salmon, it was frozen not fresh and had a strong oily fish flavor. Next thing I started noticing more how unfresh the lettuce was . Worse than the soggy lettuce I received at Taco Kissie.( Photos) This lettuce was brown. I don't like when tomatoes are diced and eggs chopped up on a 20 Dollar salad. Tomato wedges and sliced eggs make for a meal. This is a restaurant that is cross using ingredients to the max. Great for cost but not on every plate. The jack and Cheddar cheese were on my salad and on Dad's burger. The diced Tomatoes on my salad were the same on the relleno. I really wanted to enjoy my Salad but there was just no way. Unfortunately for me my Hoffbrau experience was nothing like the place I went...
Read moreIn town for a funeral. Single dad taking my 2 children for a steak. First rattle out of the box the silly little high school girls try to sit us at a booth where the table don't move. I'm 6'6" 350 lbs. I fit but was uncomfortable. Had to ask to be moved. Took them 10 minutes to decide to sit us at an empty table. It wasn't busy. There were plenty of open tables. I should have walked out. Finally get waited on and I think the waitress visited our table 4 times total. I drank unsweetened tea, which she gave me sweet the first round. I drank it anyways and didn't complain. Especially since I hardly saw her to complain. My kids drank water. Never got a refill the entire meal and stayed out of water thru the meal. Food was pretty mediocre. Ordered 2 appetizers, the jalapeños pesos and the onion strips. Nothing to write home about. We All ate steak. Myself a 13 oz ribeye, my son a 16 oz bone in ribeye and daughter a sirloin, all medium. Temperature was correct but my steak appeared to be a 10oz not a 13, especially compared to my sons bone in 16 oz. His steak was twice the size of mine. I had corn on the cob.really cool idea, except the corn was poor and the kernels were niblets. I was really disappointed. We used to have a hoffbrau in Tyler, Texas many years ago, so I was excited about discovering this while visiting my sistersFuneral. All in all 1 star. Not impressed for 115.00 ticket. Outback or a chain steak...

I visited Hoffbrau today with my family after burying my grandmother. A life event that is incredibly hard to go through. We were all tired physically, emotionally and hungry. We decided to head to Hoffbrau for dinner to end the long day.
Olivia happened to be our server. We were a big group and there were some errors made. Some of us didn't get what we ordered etc. That happens and we understand. Especially with the large group we had. None of us threw a fit.
After we finished eating, my sister had to go back in to use the restroom. She overheard our waitress, Olivia, talking with other servers near the restroom about how "Mexicans" always want discounts and things taken off the receipt. The only person who wanted something off the receipt was my brother because they tried to give him chopped steak instead of pork chops. He didn't want to wait since we already all had our food and he decided to share food with his wife.
All we wanted was what we ordered. We don't have a problem paying the tab. We also all left well over 20% on tips. Olivia and the rest of the Hoffbrau staff need to undergo customer service training and be respectful of their guest. Even if they have difficult tables which we were not.
Highly disappointed. They did offer coupons and entrees, but we don't want that. If anything, the staff needs to go through...
