This has turned into one of my go-to to places when I'm looking for an inexpensive meal. The reason it's inexpensive is because of my senior status. I can go for breakfast and get all you can eat bacon and eggs that they keep on the line until noon. They have omelets and stuff before that but I don't need anything fancy. It costs me under $9 for the meal. It's about the same price if I go between 2 and 4 p.m. for the senior lunch. You know how you go to a buffet and you feel like you have to eat a lot to justify the price if it's in the $12 to $15 range? Well when a meal costs me under $9 I don't have that feeling so I'm perfectly happy to get a couple of their little bowls of soup, a plate of food, and a dessert if I have room. If I'm there after 4 p.m. when they start serving the steaks then sometimes I will get a small steak to finish off my meal and I have to say their steaks are excellent. I always ask for a small piece, red in the middle. I hit less gristle in my steak here then I do at the popular Roadhouse style steak houses in town. Of course there are items I end up not caring for so I just don't get those again. Another thing I like is I can load up on vegetables so my plate of food usually includes a lot of spinach, turnip greens, brussel sprouts, cabbage, carrots, Etc. I can't think of any other restaurant in town where I can get such a variety of vegetables in one plate. I've had their pot roast with vegetables and it is excellent but I'm not crazy about their chicken. I've been there a couple times when they had prime rib available and it was darn good also although probably not as good as what I had at Big Texan and Texas Roadhouse, not to mention Embers. But I end up paying close to $20 for my meal when I eat at those places. Golden Corral is close to me and reasonably priced so I will...
Read moreEmployees certainly aren't going to do the smallest thing not required of them. We were sitting by the dessert bar and I heard a teen tell waitress there weren't any dessert bowls. I don't know what she said and walked away but the teenager stood there a long time waiting. No one ever brought any dishes, he finally got a cookie and left. When I finished eating, I decided I wanted some soft serve ice cream with hot fudge and sprinkles. There STILL weren't any bowls. I asked a waitress getting glasses where the drinks are for some dessert bowls. In a really ugly manner, she said, "that's not my business, you'll have to ask her!" pointing to the lady working behind the dessert bar busy putting out the desserts. I asked her and she immediately stopped what she was doing and came around, took the empty rack to the back. A short time later, another waitress came by where I was waiting and said they didn't have any clean bowls, they were going to have to wash some. Another waitress walking by heard her and said, (kinda sarcastic), " just get a plate for whatever you want". I walked back to by the cash register for a plate. They were all hot but got one and went back to the ice cream machine. The one who told me to get a plate walked by and I told her I always wanted soft ice cream on a hot plate! She said it wasn't any of her business. I turned around to get the hot fudge but mostly had only liquid in the plate. I sat it down right there and left. ( NO TIP I might add! ) Waitress didn't say it wasn't her station, she said it wasn't her business, WELL, someone needs to attend to bussiness and an attitude adjustment!!! I would highly suggest a "Bussiness Relations" course at Amarllo College. Thursday, July 25th at...
Read moreI was disappointed. It's been a while since I've been here. Pre-pandemic if memory serves. The quality has dropped like a stone. In the ocean. Down a trench... the selection was nowhere near what it used to be. Several items (namely the fried chicken and the bourbon street chicken) were dry, almost like they'd sit on the steam table for a few hours... everything was rather bland, I had to chase down a buffet attendant to get a chunk of overcooked dollar steak... now there are three caveats that I must say in the interest of total disclosure... first my waitress was awesome... I drink alot, like alot alot... (I think I had like 10 glasses of tea) and not once during the 2 hours I was there (I'm a slow eater, prone to distraction, especially when solo) did I have to flag her down for a refill... second, I arrived at 1930, a little late but still 2½ hours before close... and lastly, there was a payment mistake in my favor, had to do a split tender, and for some reason the larger charge on my bill was accidentally refunded causing my entire meal to only cost me $3.39... I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.. but I had to call the manager's attention to it... the Arnold Palmers alone was worth more than that... it was half an hour before close, so he let me keep it... I had just figured it out when I checked the amount of the transaction so I could calculate the time (I gave her 25% of what it should have been (or 150% of what was actually charged)... anyhow all said and done, I'll give then a year or two to improve before I say I'm never going back... but it will be a year or two before...
