Came here for the first time about two years ago and I was not impressed. Came here again for the second time and still wasn’t impressed. The front entrance has no curb appeal at all. Looks really outdated and uninviting. Upon entering, we weren’t welcomed warmly, but to only be asked, “for how many?” After sitting down, was asked several times after just minutes if we were ready to order. Appreciate the enthusiasm of taking our order and all, but we weren’t asked with enthusiasm, we were asked more like, “are you ready to order, or not” tone. The server was lacking people skills. We ordered: honey walnut prawns, chicken and shrimp lo mein, green beans, sweet and sour chicken, Szechuan scallops, and house fried rice. The honey walnut prawns were drowning in sauce and looked like a glob of mayonnaise sauce under it, around it, and over it. On top of that, it was decorated with broccoli encircling the dish - the weirdest thing I ever saw! No one in their right mind, who knows how to serve (and cook)honey walnut prawns correctly in a restaurant would ever do such a ridiculous thing. I almost gawked at the sight. The lo mein was probably the worst lo mein I ever tasted - soggy, and flavorless. The string beans were decent along with sweet and sour chicken. If I HAD to ever come back to this place it’s either one of 2 things: 1. Someone was paying for it. 2. It would only be for sweet and sour chicken and the string beans. That would be it! I’ve had better Chinese food in Utah county than this place.

Food review & building review My family and I have been going to China Isle for (at the very least) the last ten years, and no matter how many places I try; nowhere can beat their General Tso 🤷‍♀️ Similar to everywhere you go, sometimes it’s good, but not mind-blowing, but sometimes it climbs up to the “best things I’ve ever tasted” list. It’s always satisfying *note: they have the BEST HOT&SOUR soup! And you can order a big container of it to bring home. The soup lasts well in the fridge and reheats well if you freeze it. But make sure it’s the first thing you eat 🤦‍♀️ I have found it tastes strange when eating it with other tastes. Building hazards for managers to consider: Oooooffff. This part is what gets me. Firstly, Leaving bleach and other cleaning supplies just on the bathroom floor, even if they are shoved to the side by the sink, is NOT okay. It’s not appealing, but most importantly it’s a family restaurant, meaning kids are often in there- and leaving chemicals such as those openly placed on the floor is not safe. Secondly, all the hanging wires from the window sign should be either taped to the seal or sealed in plastic tubing.

ETA: Yummy food, but still noticed the portions have decreased, except for the rice. The staff was very nice and attentive despite being short and running everywhere. I've been to China Isle many times. This time I was a little disappointed. The food is still good, that's not the problem. I've talked for years about the signs of the downfall of a restaurant. Tonight I saw the signs. No menu, besides the paper take out menu. Plastic plates, where ceramic plates used to be. Generic plastic drinkware compared to branded ones before. And the reason for my decrease in stars, potion sizes that were half of what they used to be. The same meal that used to feed my family (at the same price) now only fed my daughter and I. It's a vicious cycle, a business tries to save money and cut costs because patronage isn't as plentiful. Patrons slowly stop coming because things have changed and are not as good as they used to be. The value is lacking. That's the beginning of the end and it's sad to see.

This is the absolute worst place to eat. I am not just talking Asian food, the worst food in general. I have eaten at some bad places, but this one takes the cake. The service was piss poor, we weren't greeted when we came in, and awkwardly stood there for a few minutes till I had to pull a waiter aside and ask to be seated. Once we were seated we were greeted by a monstrosity of a waitress. A normal waitress will either hand you your silverware / straws, or gently place them on the table. Not her, because she was so obese, her little stumpy arms couldn't reach the table, so she just rudely tossed them in our general direction, mine slid off of the table and landed on the floor... Finally, once we received our food, I was so excited to just put something tasty in my mouth. To my dismay, the Orange Chicken I had ordered tasted like hot garbage, the consistency was all wrong, it had a hard shell on the outside, and the chicken on the inside was DRY. The orange flavoring was horrid. The rice was not any better, it was crunchy... WAY under-cooked. At this point, I want to just rinse my mouth out. Oh but wait, the waitress has not filled our water cups let alone come back to our table once to ask how everything was. After about 10 minutes, I have to flag her down to come to our table, and get us waters, as well as my egg drop soup that she forgot. When she brings out the egg drop soup, it was scalding hot, I wait for it to cool down to a temperature that a human mouth can withstand, and try it. It tastes like boiled water with an egg dropped lazily in there. There was NO flavor, and NO consistency to this soup. It was boiled water. We get up to go and pay, and the waitress comes up the front, and sits on a bench, because her body can not physically stand standing for more than a few seconds it seems. (Which makes sense why she never came to our table) She then starts asking my wife why we didn't eat all of our food, my wife bluntly tells her it tasted terrible. And she then has the audacity to ask my wife if she wanted us to box up our food to go. (nice gesture, but terrible timing) My wife tries to be polite, and says no thank you. and then again, she goes, oh, I bet it is too tempting... as if we would ever want to eat this food again, especially microwaved.....my wife just stares at her... like really... you would as that. I finish paying, and promptly walk out the door...
