**UPDATE: Del Taco reached out to me and made up for the experience I had. That goes a long way with me.
5 Star - Changed due to out reach from company
1 Star - Disappointing End to Years of Loyalty
I’ve been a loyal customer at the State Street Del Taco in American Fork for over five years, often visiting multiple times a week. Sadly, I won’t be returning after a frustrating experience this week.
There’s an employee who works nights that I’ve dealt with for years. He’s always been a bit abrasive in his tone, but I’ve overlooked it—figuring that’s just his personality. However, during my last visit, things crossed a line. I asked for two large waters with my meal, something I’ve done many times before. In the past, I’ve simply been charged 25 cents per cup. This time, without explanation, he aggressively insisted that each water would cost $3.75—almost $10 for just water.
When I politely mentioned that he’s never charged that much before and asked what changed, he doubled down on the price and spoke to me in a very rude and dismissive tone. I even acknowledged that he had always gotten my order right and thanked him for that in the past, but that didn’t seem to matter.
It’s disappointing to be treated this way, especially as a long-time customer. If this is how loyal patrons are treated, I’ll gladly take my...
Read moreI went through the drive through at this location around 10.30pm on Wednesday August 8th. There were only 2 cars ahead of me, yet I still sat waiting for 20 minutes just to get to the window. As I was parked sitting at the window and the cashier was processing my card, I was watching one of the employees who was preparing my food. I watched him drop one of my chicken soft tacos on the floor, and instead of picking it up and throwing it away and making a new one, I watched him look around to see if anyone had noticed what happened. When he obviously felt he was in the clear and no one had seen, he picked up my taco, wrapped it back up and placed it in my bag and brought it to the window. When I told him that I saw him drop my food on the floor and that I wasn't taking anything unless he remade it he tried to argue with me by saying that he double checked and nothing got on the food "it was ok". After telling him THREE times that I didn't care if he "double checked" I wasn't taking food that he had dropped on the floor, he finally went and remade my food, which took another 10 minutes. When giving me my food he said "Sorry I don't know what I was thinking about the taco..must have been a long day or something". Long day or not, that's zero excuse to try and give someone food that you dropped...
Read moreSerious concern with food safety. Watched employee contaminate my food with dirty cleaner water on cleaning gloves. This is also being reported to the health department. I cannot believe what I witnessed tonight. The employee who took my payment had previously been cleaning a machine on the counter with rubber gloves on, a red bucket, spray cleaner and towels. He didn't even take the gloves off to interact with me or wash his hands. He wiped the gloves "dry" on his CLOTHES after putting the dirty towel back in the dirty bucket. Took my payment with the dirty gloves on. Went and got my food off the same counter that the red bucket and towels had just splashed onto. PICKED UP MY FOOD WITH THE WET DIRTY GLOVES ON and proceeded to hand it to me. This is repulsive. Whatever he wiped up with that towel and cleaner is now all over the food and the bag and the money I have him. No receipt was given, he sounded like he was high, the gate on their dumpsters was wide open blocking the driveway exit and my friend had to get out of the car to move it out of our way. The food was also thrown immediately into the dumpster. This was the worst experience I have ever had. I will never return and I hope you don't as well if you care about your health. Their dirty cleaner water is in your food and...
