Posted for a friend- I ordered a cake for my husband from this bakery, we used to do so exclusively. I’m not sure if they have new workers or management, but they were extremely unprofessional when I called to let them know that the cake was subpar. I ordered a German chocolate cake, the frosting tasted like canned frosting and the cake itself wasn’t even layered like a traditional German chocolate cake would be, and the writing on top of the cake wasn’t even centered.

I spoke to a woman on the phone at first simply letting her know that my expectations weren’t met, I told her I did not want compensation or a refund but that their cakes used to be very good. She told me she made the cake herself and that they don’t use canned frosting after I mentioned it, she then proceeded to ask, ‘do you make your own frosting?’ as if that matters. If I wanted a cheap cake, I would have made a cake myself. She then apparently either handed the phone off to someone without telling me or they had me on speaker because a gentleman came on and then stated HE made the cake from scratch. Insisting he made everything in it. I told him the other employee stated she made the cake, he insisted that he did all of the work and that they don’t use canned frosting, then proceeded to admit they order in their frosting rather than making it from scratch like they used to. The female then tried to back track and say she asked if I made my own frosting because she wanted a recipe. If she had wanted a recipe then she would have simply asked if I had a recipe I used. She simply intended to purposely be rude.

So, if you want an overpriced, cheap cake made by people who can’t even agree on who actually made said cake (aka liars), then by all means purchase from...

Donuts were amazing - snoogles are delicious and fun to eat! Never came here during my Oberlin student years (1994-1999) but when my wife's father passed we drove through Oberlin so I could show her around and we found this place one morning. Amazing tasty goods! Confused as to why one of the ladies working there was so cranky - she came across as really annoyed to the customer before us, and we tried to be upbeat and smiled a lot when we got to her at the counter, but it didn't seem to make any difference. I'm not going to give the business a lower rating just because of her sour face and miserable personality because I can't assume this one employee represents the entire business. Hopefully you'll get a kind person to serve you these tasty treats!

After reading the other customer reviews, I'm seeing a LOT of 1 and 2 star reviews saying the counter staff in the morning were irritable... customers felt like they were a nuisance to that employee. That is EXACTLY how my wife and I felt going in there. This was a weekday morning in early December 2020 that we were there, but if I recall correctly the angry lady was maybe in her 60s, short brown hair, and NO customer service skills. I saw Tim respond to those reviews asking the customer to help him identify who gave them the bad experience, which is good of him as owner. My wife and I discussed this - this person must be a family member because no employee would be kept on who is this unpleasant to customers. Someone with this personality needs to work in the kitchen or work in the office, because that's a solid turnoff. Bakeries should be happy places....

I'll start off by saying I understand that they are short staffed; with that being said, I placed a cake order a week in advance, nothing too fancy, dark blue and dark yellow with Happy 75th Birthday in the center (so we could decorate it ourselves because otherwise we would have had to purchase the decorations and deliver them to the bakery). We placed the pick up time for 11 AM, arrived at the bakery at 10:55, waited in line as expected, seen the cake unfrosted in the cooler (knew it was ours because of the type of cake it was) proceeded to wait an additional 20 minutes for them to frost it, even purchased additional treats while we waited. When they brought the cake out, it was light blue and light green, like baby shower colors!! We expressed our discontent at the counter and was told "sorry that's what was written on the ticket" which it was not, it was written as blue and yellow and they did not give us a copy of the order but did show us the ticket and we were told she would "talk" with the girl who took the order. We were already running later to our event and did not have time to wait for them to try to fix it. The words were squished across the entire cake, could not read the 75, which was the entire reason for the event. The only plus side is that cake...

The bear claws are excellent, the apple strudel muffins with cream trees frosting are to die for, the crullers and strudels are light, fluffy airy & melt in your mouth. I really liked the lemon jelly donuts as well. I've ordered a cassata cake from here which I won't pick up until next month, but I'm optimistic based upon other customers'comments that the cassatta cake will be both traditional and delicious. This is a very busy bakery. They also have various types of Frozen pierogies and loaves of freshly baked bread for sale. Don't bother calling these intensely busy people. If you need to talk to them, I would recommend going in. Every time I go, there are people ahead of me & people behind me in line. They accept credit/debit cards and you can place orders in advance for pickup. I also saw a delivery truck parked out front that said they have nice buns 😆 so I'm sure that they deliver online orders as well. The staff is personable, friendly, very knowledgeable and doesn't have a whole heck of a lot of time. Come in prepared to order or choose and leave with some truly excellent bakery. This place has been in business for decades and there's a very good reason for that.

We make a stop here every single time we come home to visit Cleveland. Love the Polish atmosphere and they have the absolute best apple fritters I can find sold commercially (but the lady in Milan that sells them in her from yard made to order are the bestest EVAR!!). The hours seem to move around a lot and your can't really trust what's on Google maps. They post them in the window but that doesn't help somebody who isn't a regular. Regardless, they frequently have a line out the door so not much of a worry for them. Fritters sell out quick so I'd call ahead. You guys rock!! *Update* Sometimes there's a bit of a line, but consider yourself lucky to be able to stand in line at this bakery to buy what they have. I wish we had one in VA to stand in line at 😏 😉

I love supporting local businesses. Their selection is quite vast, which is great. However, every time I’ve gone in there have been small fruit flies (or maybe another variety), in their cases and on the food. It’s not just a once, twice, or third time thing but every single time. I try to look past it, but I’m just too grossed out because one came home with us this time when I opened the donut box.The staff is dry and act annoyed to help you, but they’re always busy so they’re probably always overwhelmed. The pastries are always over cooked (in my opinion). I prefer a soft glazed and these are fried for too long. The kolaches and apple fritters are also over cooked (in my opinion from many other bakeries that don’t make them that dry/ dark/ hard).
