It doesn't get any better than this! The tequila selection alone would rival any tequila shop in Mexico!! Service was amazing, food was even better and again, the tequila was very impressive!
We were greeted almost immediately by a very friendly gal that came back quickly to take our drink orders. She was very knowledgeable about the tequila's and helped us make our selection. We ordered tequila and two different margaritas, one being the Ultimate Margarita which was probably the best I've ever had! I wish I could remember the names of the tequila, we ordered two extra anejo's, and they were both so smooth and spicy at the same time!
Another lovely, friendly gal brought our drinks out and also took our food order. Again, she was super knowledgeable of the menu and was able to answer all of our questions with ease and familiarity. I wanted both black beans and refried beans mixed together and her answer was absolutely, best of both worlds! Nothing phased her and she smiled the entire time!
Our food arrived quickly but not too quickly! Sometimes at Mexican restaurants it seems like it comes out way too fast to be freshly made. This took just the right amount of time and it was nice and piping hot! Let me just say, it was absolutely phenomenal! Every single bite of everything on the plate was delicious! I had the Camarones Gilberto Aceves which was the best camarones dish I've ever had and hubby had the Chiles en Nogada which was super unique and different. The sign says gourmet and they mean gourmet! We shared the lemon cake for dessert and it was also delicious!
I highly recommend Frida's and will definitely return if in the area! This is a true gem of a restaurant and Anacortes is lucky...
Read moreFood was ok, but heavy on rice and corn filler, very light on meat. The tamales in particular were nearly all corn meal. The shredded beef taco salad had only slightly more meat.
The waiter took a long time to serve us and neglected to bring chips. We had to ask for chips when he finally came to our table to promote their daily appetizer and entree specials. It felt like he withheld the chips with the hope of upselling the appetizer.
When the chips finally arrived they were served with two salsas (a red and a green salsa). Unfortunately, both were very spicy/hot. When we asked for mild salsa for the chips we were told they only have very hot salsas. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that couldn't accommodate a request for mild salsa. The overly spicy/hot salsa ruined that part of the meal for one of our party that can not tolerate spicy/hot food (and had specifically requested going to a Mexican restaraunt for chips and salsa).
After the meal was completed and we received the bill, the waiter said their computer was down and asked that we pay with cash. I paid with a hundred dollar bill. When the waiter picked up the cash he had the audacity to ask if I needed change. If I had said no he would have been getting a 35% tip!!! I asked for change and left a smaller tip more commensurate to the mediocre service and food.
All in all a disappointing experience. Not sure why this restaurant is getting such high ratings. It is highly unlikely that we...
Read moreWe had a nice evening sitting outside. These service was meh. I think they tried to be friendly but they were busy and fridas. What I love about this place is the chef is more of an artist. This is different than any other Mexican restaurant. They put a twist on things they have some amazing things on their menu that I'm looking forward to trying the future. I don't know what was in the rice but it was green and was delicious it was soft it was hot and like the restaurant I had gone to the week previous whereI could barely choke it down. There were unique flavors in the coleslaw that you just kept wanting to eat it and figure out what it was. I think a little vinegary too. It was great. The vegetables in the burrito were all cooked so well. I really do honestly believe their chef is an artist. Update: this time we tried both vegetation dishes they offer. One was crepes 'something' & the other not crepes lol (I can't remember name) They were great but pretty much just sauteed veggies. The little green chip dish with black beans mixed in made a great improvement. The rice helped too. The crepes we believe are just thin egg as you can see in a close up photo included. It was alright. Neither sorted a lot of flavor. Needed garlic at least. But overall, we...
