My family and I was visiting the area for a family vacation with our young children to both Disney & Knott’s Berry Farm. We decided to grab breakfast at Denny’s before starting our day. Upon entry into the restaurant, we saw a female in a Dennys grey shirt acknowledging and seating other guests standing in line that were either in front or behind us, all party sizes from 4,6, and parties of 3. No wait times. She never acknowledged our party of 4 standing in line. A gentleman shouted from the back, ‘welcome, we will be with you in a minute.” This same female came over after the gentleman acknowledged our party and rudely requested my husbands name and stated ‘the wait time is 15-20 minutes.” The gentleman from the back quickly came to the front and started preparing to seat us when the same rude female (Micaela-later identified as the night manager) said to him in Spanish “they on the wait list, they got to wait.” The gentleman (Gabriel) preceded to seat us while Micaela looked on with a very smug look on her face. While seating us, we noticed that there were 4 clean tables to accommodate a family of 4 and 2 uncleaned booths. Not sure why the wait for us and not others. We felt her behavior toward us was very discriminatory, demeaning, dismissive and rude. The service received by Gabriel, our server was far more exceptional than the manager Michaela. Her behavior is not becoming of a manager at her level. She needs serious training in professionalism and customer service or find another job. Hands down Gabriel’s service and behavior was far more superior. I would have given my visit 5 stars for Gabriel service only, but Micaela’s behavior as a manager was not acceptable. Also the food was average. I would definitely not be returning to the Denny’s on Katella in Anaheim, because if Micaela is the night manager at that location, it’s likely she’s responsible for training others to be like...
Read moreI came in with just my 1 year old son and myself, early in the morning. It wasn't busy and we were seated quickly. The food was as to be expected, my omelet was better than I expected for a Denny's, and my sons food smelled good, depsite him not eating it. The problem for me was my server. Polite enough, but apparently either extremely shy or new. I had to get up to ask for a child's water for my son, I had to get up to ask for napkins - from a different server, because the one that was assigned to my section, wouldn't come out from behind the glass. It would be different if he were busy.. but he was just standing. I again got up, and asked if he could fill a small thermos of mine of hot water so I could heat up my son's bottle, so he could actually eat. He wouldn't grab the thermos and fill it (I don't know if that's policy), instead, he brought the smallest tea cup of hot water, hardly enough to heat the bottle in the first place. As I was getting to my omelet, the check was brought to me without even asking if I was finished, no refills on water, didn't ask if I'd like a desert to go or anything. I felt very rushed out. And since he didn't visit my table ONE time after I ordered during my visit (except to give me the check), I had to again, get up to ask another server if I could get a to go box for my son's food. Honestly, this is the most ignored I've ever felt at any establishment. And it was made even harder by having a small child with me,...
Read moreWe ate here a number of times over the course of a week while we were attending a tradeshow nearby. The smoothies are fantastic, and the food was consistently good.
I have a couple of comments. First, two of us asked for strawberry banana smoothies and were instead brought strawberry milkshakes. An honest mistake I'm sure but would have been worth clarifying as I can't see ordering a milkshake at 8:00am. They did replace them with the smoothies we asked for but then charged us for the milkshakes on the check - they are a couple of dollars more. Just seemed a little greasy to do that.
Additionally, we were annoyed our last day by two different types of music being played. It was hard to focus and talk with contemporary music playing in the dining room, and Spanish music blasting I'm (louder) from the kitchen. When I asked them to please choose a station, our server said that they have no control over it, despite that this was the only time music was blasting from the kitchen in all of our visits. Just an annoyance but really put a damper on an otherwise...
