We went to the character breakfast and had a terrible experience! The characters themselves were pretty great, the food was ok, not any better than the free breakfast our hotel served, but the service was horrible! We had 8:15am reservations for a party of 11, we got inline to see Minnie Mouse and saw her fairly quickly although it was a very rushed experience. We were seated at 2 small round tables next to each other. Being a large party I wasn't surprised to get 2 tables but this was only enough room for about 8 people. My husband asked for a different table and we were offered an additional table splitting us up, I said we'd rather not sit separately and nothing more was said. The lines for food were so long that by the time I got done getting all the kids food my 4 year old needed a bathroom break (which is outside) so I didn't get to make a plate for myself until after that. I got a plate and made my way back to the table where I couldnt sit down as the chair that was left for me was now filled with used trays and plates because nobody had bussed our small tables that already couldn't fit our party and their plates. My mother asked a cast member what we were supposed to do with the trays and plates and was answered with "I'm not a busser", my mom said "ok but what do I do with them?" The cast member told her to leave them on the table we said we don't have room and were then told to hold them and she'd get a busser. So as she stood there holding the trays filled with plates My husband went to find someone and again ask for a larger table. Another cast member came over and offered us a larger table telling us to leave anything we didn't want and he would take care of it, I said, "ok give us a second to move the kids first" after moving the kids abd going back for the plate I had yet to sit down with yet was thrown away meaning I'd have to stand in those ling food lines again if I wanted to eat. We ended up completely missed by characters because of being moved and didn't end up leaving the plaza inn until 11:30 am so we wasted a big chunk of our last day at Disneyland being treated poorly. This was a very frustrating and disappointing character dinning experience. After all this we were offered preferred seating to a parade that we had already seen so it wasn't super helpful. For an amazing character dinning experience go to Goofy's kitchen you won't be...
Read moreMy review is specific to the Character Breakfast "Minnie and Friends", I have not gone in the evening.
The breakfast entrance fee provides you with a buffet style breakfast, the choices are solid - ranging from Mickey Mouse shaped waffles to country fried chicken. Initial portions are large, and they don't skimp when you return for more. A range of sodas are available, and they have skim and 1% milk (no 2% or whole). Grapefruit and orange juice are available.
When you enter, you'll be asked to get a photo taken before going inside the actual restaurant. This is presented to you in print form about 15 minutes into your meal, you can purchase it there, or add it to a Photo+ pass. If this doesn't interest you, I suggest you simply inform them that you don't need a picture.
The characters come by regularly, so expect to see the same ones more than once. It's a good thing, it means if you see one leaving when you go in, you won't actually miss them. They make it a point to go to every table and really take their time with you, so feel free to be playful with them and get some great pictures!
Pro tip (and warning) #1 - Although breakfast closes at 11:30am, they remove all the food at 11:15am. This may not seem bad, but if you show up to breakfast at 10:45am or 11:00am, be aware you may not have much time a) to get food or b) see all the characters.
Pro tip (and warning) #2 - There is no bathroom inside the restaurant. If you have to go (or your kid), then you have to leave the restaurant and walk around the property (outside of the entire restaurant).
I rated this an ok because I didn't know these things, and wasn't informed when I went in the restaurant at 10:45am. After getting our picture taken, and then getting shown where food/etc. was, getting our first small plates of food - it was already 11:00am. My daughter then had to use the restroom - which is when we found out the restroom was outside. When we got back (11:15am), I was fine, figuring we had 15 more minutes to get food and eat. When my daughter and I then went to get food, most of it was gone (only bacon was left at the breakfast station), and the cups were juice...
Read moreSo far, this is my favorite place to eat when we visit Disneyland!
We usually book our reservation at Minnie's Plaza Inn for a few days into our trip when we've been eating mostly snacks and things so that way we get a nice nutritious breakfast.
It also make the food taste better that way too because the Plaza Inn is your typical FSA type food served cafeteria style.
For just around $35.00 per head, you get access to unlimited amounts of breakfast foods including a made to order omelette bar, hot breakfasts including scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage links, bacon, biscuits and gravy, country fried steak and ham steak. You can have your choice of multiple different dry cereals or a plethora of sweet breads, pastries and muffins. There is french toast as well as Mickey waffles and your choice of fruit compote made from either blueberries, strawberries or peaches or all sorts of fresh fruit. You can also get a banana caramel topping too! Add soda, milk (regular or chocolate), coffee and fresh juice to the mix and you'll have to undo the button on your pants before you can waddle out of the restaurant.
While you dine, up to 10 Disney characters will come around and visit you at your table. They sign autographs and take photos with you and your kids and if you're lucky, they might even dance with you. Rabbit stayed and played rock, paper, scissors with our daughter before having a dance battle with Rafiki. This place is a lot of fun and I recommend this character dining experience to anyone who visits the park.
Thanks...
