This hotel is in a FANTASTIC location if you want to be close to the main gate of Disneyland (within walking distance - 5 -10 mins max). I suspect that it is also relatively less expensive than the Courtyard that sits right next door. The front desk staff I interacted with was great - very friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcome.||All of this being said - this was probably the least "nice" Fairfield Inn I've ever stayed in, so if you are a typical Fairfield Inn person who expects a certain level of... Fairfield Inn-ness, you should be prepared for it to be a lower than usual standards experience. But the location can't be beat. And on Bonvoy points, it was the best value for points in this location when I was there.||Let me explain. I know that Fairfield Inns are basic. My expectation is that they provide a decent and clean, basic stay that feels like a Marriott experience, despite being lower end. Nothing fancy, but consistently solid.||This Fairfield Inn, while being amazingly located (did I mention the location?) is what I would describe as a slightly "upleveled" Motel 6. To me that meant it was more modern and generally nicer than Motel 6, but also still gave Motel 6 vibes. For example, the shabby-looking window AC unit rumbled all night long, even though I had turned off the "fan" setting on the separately installed wall control panel. It definitely impacted my sleep. And though almost all of the light switches had been updated to the modern flat style you expect to see today, there was still one lone old fashioned switch over the bathroom sink that reminded me of switches from the 60's, and it was dirty. It just made me feel like the details didn't matter. The door to the room also seemed very old and the locking system was pretty shabby. I placed a chair up against the door just in case. To me it felt like the owners bought the property from a different brand and did the bare minimum to get it up to Marriott standards, but definitely missed a few details along the way.||The hotel is very large for a Fairfield Inn. I believe it's nine stories, with multiple wings, and my specific room was about as far from the elevator as you could possibly get. I personally had to go out from the elevator lobby and through a thankfully short but creepy hallway that I described to my partner as a "liminal space," only to get to another REALLY long hallway to get to my room at the very end. (see photos) The hallways are outdoors, so it doesn't feel claustrophobic, but as a single woman walking back to my room at 10pm at night, I didn't feel particularly safe, either. I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel again for this reason alone, at least not by myself, or if I did, I would insist on a room very close to the elevator.||Amenities: There is no food service at this hotel, but there is a lobby pantry with beverages and snacks, as well as a market gift store that sold souvenirs as well as additional snacks and beverages, including alcohol. There is also a Panera Bread basically on the property that opens at 5:30am and closes pretty late, which was very convenient, as well as a McDonalds and Mimi's Cafe close by.||There is a small pool onsite, as well as a game room. ||All in all, it was totally fine for a really well-priced one-night stay literally at Disneyland's door. If you are super budget-conscious and want to be close to the park in a Marriott property, it fits the bill.||However, if I were to do it all over again and had a few more Bonvoy points to spare, I probably would choose to stay at the nicer looking Courtyard that is right next door in the same fantastic location, which also has a pretty nice-looking water...
Read moreWe stayed for 3 nights Oct. 17th, 18th, & 19th. We were on the 5th floor and had a great experience. The staff were very polite our entire visit. It is very close to the Disney park entrance, maybe a 7 minute walk to the stoplight and we felt very safe. We were very happy with the location. Our room was very nice and clean with laminate floors that had just been washed (nice because we could see the floor was clean vs. carpeted floors), quality linens, and plenty of towels. Most importantly, the bed was absolutely wonderful. We loved it! I don't know what mattresses they use, but it was firm, yet soft enough that you didn't feel like you were sleeping on a board, but also, neither of us spent the night rolling back and forth. Literally, we were nestled into bed. We loved it and want that mattress for our queen bed at home! And the hotel was quiet! We didn't hear noise at all. Our next happy surprise was the shower head! Holy cow, if you want a good shower this shower head most certainly didn't scrimp on the water. The flow was amazing, the water pressure was great, the hot water was plentiful! There was also an ice machine in the corridor which somehow was always full and we filled our water bottles with ice before and after Disney. In addition, the lobby kept ice water to fill your bottles with water or to get a quick drink if needed. They also have a beautiful gift shop in the lobby which had all kinds of cute souvenirs and things you may need during your stay like snacks or forgotten toiletries. There was a Panera and McDonalds flanking the hotel parking lot and a Mimi's Cafe very close by. There were only two things we would say were somewhat lackluster but not at all dealbreakers for us. #1. If you have a serious knee or hip problem, the toilets were a bit lower to the ground. I was recovering from a pretty serious knee injury and noticed this right away. It doesn't change my 5 star rating in the least, just something to note. #2. They do have a nice, clean pool area. It's a pool. It's rectangular and plain but very clean with nice seating. It's fine if you just need a place to swim or decompress, or, if you are traveling with kids that you are planning on taking to Disney parks and just need to have a place to give them some additional recreation or cooling off. I will say that if you are traveling with kids and maybe grandparents who would be watching them while you adults head over to the Disney parks, you may want to consider staying at the hotel next door which is the Courtyard Marriott. I only say this because our room was on the side that faced their water playground and I can say the Courtyard Marriott pool is meant for kids and serious water playtime. It's a pool and playground in one, with slides, water spouts, and all the bells and whistles you can think of for kids. I called my daughter and said if she ever goes to Disney with her young kids, we'll fly in and babysit them at the pool while she and her hubby go enjoy some fun without the kids. Just something to think about. For us, we spent so much time at the parks from morning until late at night that the pool was only something we walked by. For us, if we travelled to Disney again, we would be very happy to stay at the Fairfield by Marriott Anaheim Resort. It was a great start to our 14 day...
Read moreAs a frequent travel enthusiast, myself and my family have always stayed at Marriott hotels. In fact during a time of crisis in our lives, this was our immediate choice. So now that I am celebrating a momentous occasion such as my engagement we decided to to stay at the Fairfield by Marriott in Anaheim. This combined bachelor and bachelorette party was meant to be enjoyable, joyful, and a time of celebration. So we had two rooms prepared, one with all the gentlemen and one with all the ladies. Late in the evening on the second night of our stay, I received a call from my fiance obviously worried, emphasizing that their door would not lock. I reassured her and went to their room to look over anything they might have missed. Sure enough, the locking mechanism, whether defective or malfunctioning, would not lock. I had her lock the door from inside multiple times and every time I was able to simply open the door from the outside. We call maintenance and they come and "fix" the issue. The following morning shortly after returning from a workout, the ladies communicated that the issue had indeed not been fixed and the door was able to be opened from the outside by anybody, at any point during the night when they were sleeping. This is incredibly concerning and exclaims an extremely worrisome dilemma as not the probability that anyone would, but the fact that anybody could have simply walked into the room in which my fiance, her little sister, and their friend slept, in their pajamas not fully clothed. This presses the significance of the matter of safety as this hotel is a frequent destination for families and parents often with young children. A matter of this gravity should have been dealt with a reflective empathy and care. Or so i expected. When I made my way down to speak to the manager, I was asked to wait after having expected that at least the issue was communicated amongst the team. It was not. After waiting a while, I was told that I could not be seen at the time and that I would be called at a later more convenient time. AGAIN, the course of resolving the issue severely under weighs the weight of the problem. After a while I was approached by a different manager to whom the entire problem was communicated and then a possible resolution was proposed. I did not hear back or receive any updates the rest of that day and had to find myself explaining myself yet again to now a different manager to whom kept referring to the first manager who did not, and apparently STILL had no time to resolve the issue. The importance of these dilemmas yearn for the excellence in personal customer service and yet it seemed like this person simply could not be bothered with the matter. So what was finalized was a comp for one night out of the four nights our stay. The safety of my fiance, her little sister, and their friend could not warrant the care and attention of the actual manager and apparently is only worth a single night's stay. The abrasive lack of empathy and care regarding the matter and precarious attempts at problem resolution is more than enough to concretize the fact that Marriott is not a place that feels safe and guests are valued. These distinguish why such a place is not likely to be recommended to anyone and why it will no longer be an option for travel moving...
