I love Graeter's bakery and ice cream and used to love going to the Cherry Grove location. Unfortunately, my last couple of trips have been a total disappointment and every issue has been with the employees. A few months ago, right after the new building opened, I was buying bakery items and while I was waiting, three employees were gossiping about the person at the drive through and being so rude to that person. Apparently the customer is a regular, who the employees do not like. One employee actually told the customer that they only get bakery items in once a week. I wondered about this since I drive a distance, so I asked, one of the other employees told me that they only tell that to this particular customer so he doesn't come as often. Wow, then the employees continued being extremely rude to this customer, each time the customer would try to order something, the employee would tell them they were out of it...not even sure if that was the actual case. Then the worker at the drive through rolled her eyes to the other two and mumbled, "I don't know why he doesn't just ask what we have left instead of what he wants." The three employees continued gossiping after the customer was gone. Absolutely unacceptable to talk about a customer in front of another, and to be this rude and nasty. I did not go back to Graeters for a long while after this, but the other night we went out to dinner for the first time in a while. We declined dessert at the restaurant, deciding to go to Graeters for ice cream instead. We waited in line, all of the employees were smiling and super friendly...with the exception of the one who waited on me. She started off with a hostile tone and seemed annoyed to have to wait on customers, no greeting, just a "come on down here" to me. I was shocked to look at her name tag and see that she is the assistant manager. How can the worst employee be a manager? I walked to where she was and I ordered a sundae with no nuts, but sprinkles. She went to make it and came back with a sundae with sprinkles and nuts. I told her I did not want nuts, she initially refused to remake it, stating in a very gruff tone, "well I didn't hear you say that." Still holding the sundae, she then asks, "well are you allergic to nuts?" When I said no, she suggested scraping them off...well, that would have removed all of the toppings since the nuts were throughout. I told her that I hate nuts and did not want that sundae. She still just stood there, starring at me with a very hostile look and then finally, dramatically threw the sundae in the trash. At that point, she did remake the sundae, and handed it to me. In the mean time the person I was with was waited on by the nicest, smiling guy employee...night and day difference in the quality of what he got and the whole experience. I really wanted to just walk out at this point, but did not want to ruin it for the person I was with. We paid, the cashier was also smiling and so polite. We sat down to eat and I could not help but notice this assistant manager glaring at me several times as I ate...to a very uncomfortable point, I could not wait to get out of there. This assistant manager completely ruined the evening and was more than enough to keep me from going back. Next time I will just go to UDF and pay half the price for a larger sundae and not put up with this assistant manager and...
Read moreI would give 5 start of it weren't for the overpriced ice cream. I actually rated it a 4 bc of it but now changing to 3 starts before finishing this review and it's bc as great as it is, it's ridiculous to charge $7 for 2 scoops of ice cream that's not even on a cone! I do Love this place though! I love how they rebuilt the location. It's huge! The drive-thru stays busy with multiple cars in the line always. When I went there the other day I found out that they have some sort of rewards points that you get awarded on their app for each purchase. Just need to make sure that they damn your phone at the drive-thru window or inside. After I getting a hundred points you get $5. I believe though it takes a while to gain these points because I think it's only one point gained per dollar spent. Their ice cream is really really good. My ONLY complaint is that YES it is too expensive. I get that it's wonderful ice cream and that it's a very popular company, but they really do not need to be doing that much bc they really are over doing it. Sorry, but 1 scoop on a sugar cone being $5 is steep. When you're paying almost $7 or over $7 I'm not sure exactly the amount I just know it was around $7 ish for two scoops in a cup, that's a tad bit ridiculous! It should NOT ever cost a person almost $7 for two scoops of ice cream. I do not care how popular the place is ...bc at this point it's cross a certain line and a threshold to where it seems like the company is just nickel-and-diming ppl. Even if they charge $5 for two scoops in a cup that would still mean that they would be making tons of money. It's sad to see how some companies have jumped on the whole inflation bandwagon even whenever they didn't necessarily need to but they're doing it just because they can or want to. The could and should decrease prices even just a little. And even if they did that it would still be expensive. But they could do that at the very least. I never really understood why some companies over do it. And I don't mean just overdo it a little butt over do it by a lot. I have to doing it because they're thinking that they're getting a lot more money per purchase which is true but I don't think that they realize that if they just decreased prices a little bit, but they would actually be getting more money that way than they already are because people would come more frequently! It's backwards thinking in my opinion. So instead of me coming maybe a couple of times a month I may only come once every 4 or 5 months or longer. I could say I'm just one person but I'm not, I also have three other people in my family. So, wonderful ice cream, beautiful location, but over priced. It was overpriced five years ago before covid, so of course it's DEFINITELY...
Read moreWe had a party there yesterday and it was awful. There was another party going on at the same time as ours and they had so many people that they couldn't even fit in the room, they were all gathered in the space in front of my party room and groups of adults gathered where the kids were trying to play. It was impossible to move around in there since it was also open to the public at the same time. There should definitely be some kind of guest limit for birthday parties OR closed to the public during parties because that was insane. Any staff member we encountered or tried to ask questions seemed like we were bothering them and they always had to ask someone who had to ask someone else who had to ask someone else just to find out an answer about anything. Very disorganized. We ended up staying later so that the kids in my party could finally play. The website and the email I received said it was for kids 7 and under, yet there were tons of kids there well over 7 and they would just barrel through the younger kids and knock them all down. Then add in all of the parents and everyone is tripping over everyone. This on top of the amount of work i had to put into even trying to get ahold of someone over multiple calls and emails to schedule the party AND THEN the multiple calls and the email I had to send just to try and confirm the details and guest count was ridiculous. Seems like a place that does not care about your business. We've been to a party at the Montgomery one and they handle those a lot better at...
