Chick-fil-A — Restaurant in Ankeny

.... This used to be a good place, it was the only one I would go to , because of the food and staff. A lot of the staff is still great, ( Miss Cindy, thank you , and Mr. David ) and there are a few others there, who are such good ambassadors of Chick- Fil-A. ( I don't , however know thier names ) This most recent visit was not up to par, as far as the food. I don't live in the Des Moines area, and so when I do pick up Chick-Fil-A, it would be nice to have the food be " right ", WITHOUT having to stand in there and check my order.... Which is what will have to be done in the future. I asked for salads,WITHOUT cheese. Both had cheese. ( I do like the salads, always fresh) ; I asked for 3 ( three) packages of dressing , was told " oh, I can't give you that, I can give you two ." Ridiculous. One package of dressing may not be sufficient for some people. I got two salads, and there was not enough dressing. I'm not sure I understand why one ( or even two ) extra packages of dressing is such a big deal. And the chicken is NOT crispy ANYMORE, it's like they don't cook the breading long enough, as in the past. I asked for it to be " crispy" - , not soggy " and I was told that " they don't do that anymore" ...(???!!) And when I told the girl I'd never heard of that in a restaurant, she took it to mean I was referring just to Chick-Fil A. Noooo. I've never heard of ANY restaurant telling a customer that they CANT have something crispy or a little more well done....because " we don't do that anymore" . That is silly....; so if Corporate made that decision, it's not a very good one..... because a lot of people like their chicken crispy, NOT soggy and it's just not good, when your chicken breading is soggy, not crispy. No. Disappointed in the food, and the young lady who took my order. She did tell me that the Owner happened to be in the establishment, but I didn't have time to do that , I don't live in Des Moines and had to...

Great food. TERRIBLE customer service. Really??? This is Chick-fil-A for crying out loud! Been to plenty of Chick-fil-A restaurants in several states and I've never experienced a bad one. My order went something like this:

Cashier: Welcome to Chick-fil-A, can I take your order? Me: Yes, I'd like a 4 piece chicken nugget... Cashier: Does that complete your order? Me: No, I also want a 4-piece chicken strips.... Cashier: Does that complete your order? Me: No, a southwest chicken salad... Cashier: (searching keypad) Chicken salad? Me: The southwest chicken salad. Cashier: ????????? Me: Sorry, the SPICY southwest chicken salad with avocado ranch dressing Cashier: Oh, ok. Does that complete your order? Me: NO. A small chocolate shake, no whip Cashier: Does that complete your order? Me: Ugh... NO. A medium sweet tea and medium Coke. That's it.

I waited for her to hand me my drinks, then turned around to find a seat and discovered that the worker with my tray of food was already searching the dining area for me. Sat down, took one look and saw that I had two 4-piece strips and no 4-piece nugget. My 4-year old refuses to eat strips, so I had to go up to the side counter to get the nuggets. While I was waiting there, I saw a guy behind the counter holding a small chocolate shake, no whip, just like mine. His coworker was laughing and said to him, "Dude, I already made that one." Total confusion behind the counter. So many workers, they were all bumping into each other and nobody knew what the next was doing. Complete chaos. And the restaurant wasn't even busy.

I've been to this location 3 times, but this was the worst visit. This is also the only CFA I've ever been to where nobody comes to your table asking to refill drinks or take your trash for you. You have to ask for ketchup at the counter, too. It's a very different experience here. Not half as good as every other CFA...

Honestly, the worst Chick-fil-A in the Des Moines metro. I don't think we've ever had our order be right and when it is- it's not even warm. We are weekly chickfila customers. We've lived in Ankeny since December and have given this place so many chances. Today just put the nail in the coffin. I spent almost an hour in the drive thru- drove off, and noticed an entire meal was wrong. Instead of the spicy chicken add cheese- I got a deluxe and Mac and cheese. Honestly, the Mac and cheese is disgusting and because I know this location will do nothing but tell you to come back (because of numerous other missed items)- I went back. I went inside and the lady said "oh you can keep that order and we'll get you the right one".. Forget that I was way overcharged for things I didn't want. I was on a time crunch so didn't argue. Waited 20 more minutes and saw my order finally sitting on the counter. Told the manager I wanted my bag and expressed what had happened. Still no fries in the bag and she said "oh that wasn't entered". Of course it wasn't. Got my fries and left. Opened the sandwich and NO CHEESE. So all the other food for my family is now cold, I was charged more than I should have been, and after nearly 1.5 hours- still didn't get my order. Chickfila has always been a great place where you didn't have to worry about your order being wrong, food being cold, and just an overall pleasant experience. This chickfila is a mock of any McDonalds. The employees and managers are generally rude, the order is NEVER right, they won't make it right, and sometimes even the food is cold. I'm honestly 100% done with this location. I'll either dine in somewhere or just go to slim chickens...
