We were super excited to try Anthony's. Unfortunately we were disappointed by the lackluster service. We ordered a half pepperoni/half cheese pizza and cheesy bread. We got the pizza, but instead of the cheese bread from the menu, we had a cheese pizza.
We called to see if there was a mistake (after driving to pick up the pizza and cheese bread) and we were given the run around. They wanted to deliver us the cheesy bread- after we had already waited 30 minutes to pick up our pizza. They wanted to have us come pick up a cheese bread- again, we just left the store and drove home. Then when we asked for a refund, the only option given was "We can give you $10 off your next purchase." ...This was our first time going to Anthony's, AND we're moving within a few days so no, a discount isn't going to help us.
It was frustrating to want to try a place so badly and then be disappointed by getting the wrong thing. Then with the phone call about the error, it seemed nobody wanted to accept any responsibility and they weren't flexible at all. We also heard them in the phone during pickup and they had forgotten food on someone else's order.
We were also told on the phone “So we gave you more food” like they did us a favor, which seemed rude.
Disappointing for a cheese bread and pizza to cost $43 and then not get it right...
Read moreThe calzone 4.7/5....Anthony's sets the bar..Maybe too generous on the olive oil, or butter if you will. But a fantastic folded, savory dinner pastry. Baked sub 4.9/5....Leave the chains alone..Anthony's ham and cheese submarine sandwich is a torpedo of baked nirvana. I visit Ann Arbor weekly for business, and this is what I settle on when I'm not feeling pizza or a burger. ( I add a generous dose of grated parm to soak up the house italian dressing) 😀 The Pizza 5.0/5....Absolutely.. The perfect score. N.Y. crust is my style, and Anthony's does there own Midwestern spin on it. I would say that the price justifies being a little more generous on the toppings, but that would just interfere with the pizza sauce. I have not enjoyed a better pizza, and it is worth the $25 for a small. I'll work overtime or whatever. Keep your $5 ready...
Read moreWent to Anthony's based on the recommendation of a friend, and after seeing rave reviews on Yelp, I expected some seriously amazing pizza. What I encountered was...not quite on that level.
The storefront is not a prize winner, but that's not problem! The staff is very nice and there weren't many people at the restaurant when we arrived, so we had plenty of time to order, and could get seats. (The seating is very limited though, be prepared to eat elsewhere). Getting the pizza didn't take too long, so can't complain about that!
Ultimately the thing that brought the experience down for me was taste. After all the great rave reviews, I was looking for real Chicago Pizza and this just wasn't it. It was maybe above average, but not excellent as the...
