I was disgusted by the behavior of the employees at the South University store at 11:30 am today. When I walked in, the person at the counter answered the phone. This was fine, I understand that he needed to answer the phone. However, he remained on the phone for 5+ minutes not even saying anything, and none of the four other people there even acknowledged me. They were all laughing and singing along to their music, and one guy even had headphones on. I would've thought it was closed if it wasn't the middle of lunch.
Then, as I was waiting quietly for the cashier to get off the phone, all the guys on the line started staring fixedly at me, and I felt really uncomfortable and almost threatened. I have never felt so unwelcome at any business establishment.
Finally, I got so uncomfortable from their staring that I turned to leave without purchasing anything. One of the guys on the line shouts at me that "he's on the phone" and that I "shouldn't have come here" if I didn't want to deal with that. I was stunned, and I just said, "What?" because I was so confused. Then all the other guys started laughing and shouting at me as I left.
I work in the service industry too, and I am a manager at one of the State Street restaurants, so I understand what it's like to work in food service, but this behavior is unexcusable. If any of my employees treated a customer like this, I would document it and discipline them immediately. I will not be spending my money at any No Thai location in the future because of my experience, and I will tell my friends about the experience I...
Read moreWe have been coming here for years; it's always been pretty good food for a reasonable price. There were three of us today, and we all found our food to be quite salty, almost too salty to eat. Also, I ordered a gang pak, which is what I always order. I was given a gang ped. Understandable mistake, and I didn't want to waste food, and I like gang ped too. So I just went up to tell the guy about the mistake so that he would be careful about distinguishing between the two in the future. He did offer to have it remade for me, but I said that I didn't need them to that; I just wanted them to know about this easy mistake to make. He insisted that I did order a gang ped and was not apologetic. I tried to explain that my whole point is that I could have ordered a gang pak but he could have honestly heard gang ped, and it was just something to be aware of in the future. He didn't seem to understand. He shrugged and suggested that I could avoid this in the future by ordering by number. We will...
Read moreGood food, but some start-up problems at this new location. I think they might be too small and too popular to handle the large crowd at times.
Tables, counters, chairs and stools are crammed into a small area, making it difficult to navigate when crowded. The hard wood stools at the counter are uncomfortable to sit on and are bolted to the floor in an uncomfortable position. As expected, the decor is no-fabric and the ambiance is no-quiet (loud). When called, my name was no-clear over the noise. I received no-receipt when I ordered or when I picked up my food. The malfunctioning fountain machine had no-ice and no-Coke. No-sign to indicate the staff knew. No-soap in the electric soap dispenser in the men's room. But, they just opened so I expect some...
