This seems to be a popular spot and I've been here a few times and the food has typically been good. I ordered the vegetarian noodle soup a few months ago for takeout and there was a piece of chicken in it. I was upset since I am pescatarian (can eat fish and seafood but not meat), but since it was takeout I figured there was not much I could do about it.
I came again last night, this time for dine-in, and ordered the Singapore noodles that come with chicken and shrimp, and requested that they don't put chicken in it. They said no problem and this was marked on the order receipt. However, when the dish came, there was chicken in it. I brought the dish up to the counter and they took it back and brought it back out only a few minutes later. I believe instead of making me a new dish, they went through the dish and just picked out any chicken pieces they saw. I couldn't finish the whole dish, and so I brought a good amount of it back home as leftovers. I also ordered scallion pancakes, and there was a bug within the food.
Later that night, I felt extremely nauseous and may have had food poisoning from this meal. The next day, my friend ate the leftovers and the same thing happened to him with nausea and food poisoning. He also found more chicken in the dish, which is disappointing.
Overall, this restaurant does not seem too vegetarian friendly as they've put meat in my dishes twice. I am also now questioning the hygiene of their restaurant and likely won't be going back...
Read moreI'm not sure if they know what vegetarian means? I asked for vegetable noodle soup with vegetable broth and double checked with them to make sure it was vegetarian, but for some reason it included a fly, which (last time I checked) isn't vegetarian?
I brought this to the attention of the manager, and she told me it was seaweed. I've never seen seaweed with wings, but maybe they use a special kind of seaweed? She then stirred it around to make sure the flying seaweed was at the bottom of the bowl and harder to see. I showed her a picture of what she claimed to be seaweed and she panicked and offered to get me another bowl of the flying seaweed soup, free of charge. Unfortunately, since I'm vegetarian, I can't eat flies, so I declined her kind offer.
You can be the judge of that picture down below. Maybe I'm wrong? I wasn't the best in biology, so maybe I missed the part in class where they taught us that seaweed grows wings after being cooked.
Only reason this isn't a one star review is because their classic fried rice is good as hell and that one lady on the staff who is usually there is...
Read moreIve been going here every once in a while for the past 3-4 years now. Honestly, the food quality at Ypsi was so much better so i started going there instead when I could. I ALWAYS get the same dish (Mi Goreng) so comparing my experiences was pretty easy. This location just always lacked the smokiness compared to Ypsi, and I even had cilantro mixed in one time (the dish doesn’t come with it). However!! I dont know if the chefs changed or something, but I got it again today for lunch and the food was SO much better than before! I might even say it was better than Ypsi tbh. The fire smokiness was so powerful, the noodles were stir fried well, and even the onions were nicely cooked. I did get Yangzhou fried rice today too, which was amazing too except it was little bit bland compared to Ypsi. But it was a good balance with the Mi Goreng sauce. Anyways, I used to just skip the rating here, but I had to leave one today bc it was exceptionally delicious today. Please keep cooking them like this! Its so much better!! I can now finally skip the 15 minute...
