This was an extremely disappointing visit. NO ONE wants to spend an hour in a cafe on a vacation they spent thousands on to wait for subpar food. Hopefully this review helps you. Also pay attention to how the person or automated program that replied to my review never apologized for the issues we experienced. They only tried to blame our sense of taste when their employees had given us cold food and messed up our order in the first place.
Due to the good reviews, we wanted to try the creme brulee "French toast," cinnamon rolls and sticky buns. We were prepared for a wait (we were there around 9:30 am). After waiting in line to order for probably 15 mins we were told it would probably be another 15 before our order was up. That was fine. After that wait, we inquired about where the order was. We were told our French toast fell apart and they ran out of creme brulee? Something to that effect. We finally got our order of French toast after around 45 mins.
For one, the "French toast" was not what you're expecting. It's more like a very dense cinnamon roll with a firm custard on top. I'd say it's like bread pudding. The middle of the one they gave us was still cold. It was ok but definitely not worth a 45 minute wait. We would never get it again.
The cinnamon roll was excellent. The frosting has a tinge of what I believe to be orange in it. Barely perceptible but good. The roll was very fresh. The sticky bun was not what I was expecting. There was a strong molasses flavor so I suspect they use dark brown sugar. I did not like it at all. The buns we got at Detweilers blew these out of the water.
The only reason the food got 3 of 5 was the cinnamon roll, which was 5/5. The faux French toast was 2/5 and the sticky bun 1/5.
My suggestion is that if you're going to go just get cinnamon rolls and get...
Read moreI hate to write a negative review about this place because we normally love it but our experience today was unacceptable. We live locally and so have come here many times and always bring our visitors here. After today I’m not sure if I will take that chance again. We waited almost an hour after placing our order for our food to come out of the kitchen. When it finally came the veggie scramble had almost no scrambled egg (one egg at most), and all of the veggies (tomatoes , onions, mushrooms, spinach), were almost completely raw. Obviously the kitchen was very behind and were just wanting to get food out with no quality control. But after waiting an hour you should be served cooked food. I’ve had the scramble many times and it’s never been served this way. Everyone around us was frustrated with the much longer than necessary wait and several people went up to the window to check on their orders. The other people at our table were about to ask for a refund when their food came. When we looked there were 3 people working in the kitchen, so it made no sense why it was so slow. There was only one food runner but she was waiting by an empty window most of the time, so the delay was with the kitchen not the speed of delivery. I could have dealt with the delay if my food had come out the way it should have. EDIT I really appreciate the thoughtful (non defensive) response from the owner. We have seen it a lot busier and still not as slow so I’m not sure what was going on that day. I did mention my issues with my food to the kitchen, but it had been so long that I didn’t wait for a response as to how or if they would fix it. I will definitely go back because we have always had good experiences there...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I absolutely love the food here, however sometimes the wait is a bit long. It is difficult for my visually impaired mom to wait around in crowded places so we usually call in advance and order take out. Again we love the food here and ate three breakfasts in the week we were here. However, on the last day there was a change in policy that we were pretty upset by. Even though we called in our order and waited 30 mins for pickup, we were told we had to wait in line in the store to get cinnamon rolls instead of being able to pick them up with our order. I understand people are waiting in line for cinnamon rolls and they don't want people getting them unfairly before others. But I thought instead of reserving them over the phone we should have been able to pick them up with the hot food we ordered if they were still available. Instead we had to wait twice - the 30 mins we were quoted when we called in, then again at the store. Please consider examining this policy to make it a bit more friendly to call in orders.
That being said, the cinnamon rolls and sticky buns are worth waiting in line for (just not at the expense of the rest of your food getting cold).
Edit to add: Thank you for your very prompt and understanding response. Since my rating was influenced more by the policy than the quality, and the policy has been addressed, then I am updating my rating accordingly. I am sure we will continue to enjoy your food for many...
