Arrived at the West End Grill to eat, drink and watch the football games on television. West End stands out to me as your standard dive bar, nothing fancy and nothing special, but someone you pop into just because you're in the neighborhood. I was disappointed to see how small the bar was so we had to sit at a booth because there was no room. Their bar holds maybe six or eight seats? The food was good, the beer was alright and the service was pretty decent. The kitchen seemed to be having an off day. Our order came out wrong so we sent it back and they corrected it (asked for no sour cream on the nachos and it came out with a large layer of squeezed sour cream layer); however, then they turned around and served our returned order to the couple at the table across from us... Soggy cold nachos (about 15 minutes had pass). I felt bad for them and they also sent that order back. So that was quite foul and very disappointing. Odd that they don't serve Guinness in the appropriate beer glass. They sent it to us in a really skinny/narrow glass which is not how Guinness should be served. The wings were good and the seasoned french fries were pretty delicious as well. I'd pass on their blue cheese dressing, it's basically just a block of blue cheese that you can't "dip". They do have a nice menu with a variety of things to choose from at a reasonable cost. Maybe it was an off day... Overall, could take it or leave it...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I dined here for dinner about 3 weeks ago. It was our first time here and I would say the experience was great overall. I think the vibe leans more towards the bar crowd than the sit down & dine crowd. Our waitress was super kind and helpful. I wish I could remember her name to give her kudos. The food was hit or miss...let me say though that the food was not "bar food." We started with the pretzel appetizer, which came with cheese and crab dip. The pretzels and cheese were good but the crab dip tasted a bit to crabby for us. For dinner, my boyfriend had fish & chips and I had the grilled chicken gyro with tzatziki + sweet potato fries. Some of the food came out a bit cold which was surprising since it didn't seem super busy. I think my boyfriend enjoyed his fish but it wasn't the greatest. I on the other hand really enjoyed the grilled chicken gyro!
I would definitely recommend giving this place a try if you are looking for somewhere new to try. They have a lot of menu options...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst restaurant experience in my life. Three meals ordered. My Cuban came out and the bread it was on felt and looked like it had sat in water for 10 minutes. Asked for new bread. While waiting for my bread to come out my step son picked up his sandwich and the bottom of that was soaking wet with whatever sauce they had put on his chicken. My daughter’s hamburger had grease dripping off of it with a slimy bun. I should have known when I sat down and were handed the paper menus that looked like they had been used the night before to mop up a spilled beer, that this was going to be a disaster. I asked for manager to come out and he did apologize. However at that point you couldn’t have offered me a tomahawk steak for free. We got up and left. First time in my life I have ever done that. Wish I had taken pictures of the food. Not sure if it was a toddler back there making the food or not. Whoever was back there...
