I’ve been in Apex a looong time now, well before Beaver Creek Commons was a thing in any case. I remember when Longhorn opened; it was like “wow! We finally got a STEAKHOUSE!” And for the last 6+ years at least, this one has been getting better and better. The food is reliably cooked to order, the service in house is done by consistently well-trained and helpful staff, comfortable environment. We probably patronize it SLIGHTLY more carside carryout than inside these days just because; I can say confidently that Longhorn’s takeout is the best in town after having lots of problems at many other restaurants in town with that. Longhorn carside- efficient, food’s ready when they say it’ll be, easy to get in and out, and again the staff is always so very very good- like the gentleman who delivered tonight’s bag, confirmed contents, and asked before he left if there was anything else he could get me. Last time, another fellow had just gotten there for work (so it appeared) and he asked me on the way in if I’d checked in. I said “yes,” and he said “let me go check on your order first thing.” He brought it out a few minutes later!
I hope Darden Corporate reads these reviews; this restaurant has great management and staff, always seems to care (in my experience) that guests are treated well. Keep these folks and keep serving the great food! This year for my birthday when I was asked which of a couple of “landmark” RDU restaurants I wanted to choose for the special night, I said “y’know, Longhorn’s just as good if not a little better in some ways and right around the corner.” It was a good...
Read moreVery disappointed. Went in for Black Friday after my daughter and I recommended it to her in laws. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant. No wait. We had a party of 7. Al their tables accommodate 6 chairs. One large booth accommodated more than 7. However with small children who need to go to the bathroom often, a recent shoulder surgery on the mother in law, sitting closely next to people in a booth is not ideal. And someone was occupying it. We were told 15 minute OR- OR!!!- we could sit at two separate tables. I worked in the restaurant industry for years and tables can be turned. A chair could be placed at end of table and still provide safe means of egress. After four tables were seated working 15 minutes a total of 11 people, I went up and said “what’s the problem?” This was beyond my comprehension with all the states and cities and restaurants I’ve ever been in. He said it’s fire code. And what it was was LAZY. The fire code is save where and there’s plenty of room for SAFE EGRESS. There’s so much room in that restaurant. It was very poooooor hosting service. We ended up at Sultans Greek restaurant right by Dollar Tree and Below 5 and it was amazing and plenty of room to scoot a table over. So it was just “policy” i beeline because fire code doesn’t state you can’t turn a table to accommodate that. Ridiculous. I have so much patience! But this was beyond common sense even for me. Food was good but this kind of front of house service means consistency of service will NoT...
Read moreCame for dinner, this time on a weekday. There were only a few tables occupied & we were seated quickly. We’ve been here quiet a few times before, but always on Fridays, food & service have been great every time. This time was an exception. Service was slow & most times the server was nowhere to be found when we needed them. They never checked in on us or offered refills. In spite of reminding them at the time of ordering, entrees were served when we’d only barely started on the appetizers. We’d ordered steaks & because they served both entree & appetizer all together, we never got to enjoy either. The signature side of crispy Brussels sprouts was almost charred. We’d ordered our steaks medium rare, however one of them was served almost well done. We waited around a bit to see if we could at least wave someone over to let them know, gave up & had to eat what we could of the cold overcooked steak. Finally when they came over, we let them know & they didn’t even seem apologetic about it. They offered to remake the steak though, but half an hour after serving it, it felt like a half hearted attempt at making things better. By then we’d lost our appetite & didn’t even order any dessert. Overall experience wasn’t anything to write home about & the fact that it was a birthday dinner made...
