This place!!! THIS. PLACE. I wish I could give it 10 stars. I accidentally found this place last week and actually was a bit hesitant about trying, yet ANOTHER "authentic" Cajun restaurant in DFW, but I was pleasantly shocked and so happy I stumbled upon this place. I've lived in DFW for 32 years after moving from Youngsville/Broussard area near Lafayette, and I've been looking for a truly authentic place since then, and could never find one that lived up to the standards of what real Cajun food is supposed to taste like. This is true Cajun food, not New Orleans where their food is a bit different. Bayou Cat was not only authentic, it was GOOD authentic. And I knew this when I saw the clientele, (a Cajun person can spot another Cajun person) but when I bit into that poboy, holy moly, I was home!! The flavor and the quality of the shrimp was not just fried shrimp, it had the flavor a poboy is supposed to have. I also had a side of Red Beans and Rice which were equally delicious. Tasted like my own. I can't wait to go back and try the gumbo and possibly the boiled crawfish. Do yourself a flavor, oops, a favor, if you're new to Cajun food, DON'T go to Pappadeaux's or Razoo's, because that's not what cajun food tastes like no matter how much people say it is. Go to Bayou Cat for what Cajun food really tastes like. This is a long review, but it had to be said. I recommend this place 100% (from a 100% Cajun girl). Oh, unfortunately, they don't sell beer or liquor there, but not going to give them a hard...
Read moreI want so bad to give this place a 5 but here is why I won't.... I was very skeptical about going seeing as most restaurants in Texas choose to sell fake catfish aka swai. When we got there and I looked at the prices I was like yeh they selling that swai lol. I chose to dine in. I ordered a 2 piece fillet, a 1 piece fillet kid meal for my child and 2lbs of crawfish. They had a large crowd but food came out quickly. It was fresh just like it came straight out the grease. I braced myself. Low and behold it was REAL catfish. Downside it had no seasoning. It was very bland! That alone is why I won't rate it a solid 5! As for the crawfish they deserve a solid 5. If you're looking for the crawfish from back home Louisiana and Mississippi, this is the closet you will find. I didn't eat all the catfish bc it had no taste. I did go back to order 4 more lbs of crawfish. I ate so many I was bout to burst. I was just so happy to find some like back home and not the typical asian style they serve in these parts. Its a solid little hole in the wall restaurant. I recommend you bring some seasoning to sprinkle on your fried food. Its worth a try. I plan...
Read moreI am a content creator that does food reviews and I came here because I seen it was had decent ratings. However my experience was terrible, the customer service sucked, the food sucked it just was an overall waste of $30. The building itself was nice and in a pretty Judy area but right off the bat the lady working the front was sort of rude and was trying to rush me and answered the questions I had very shortly and curt. I got a cluster of crab legs and a pound of shrimp, an order of potatoes, 3 eggs, and a crawfish boudin they both came in separate bags with no seasoning, juice, or butter. Those things I later seen you had to ask for separately which I have never experienced with any seafood boil ive ever got. The crab legs were small, the shrimp had the head on which I wasn't informed of (admittedly my fault I should have asked) but I just didn't like that. When I got over the fact it had the head on still I tried to rip the shell of to eat it but it was so overcooked the shell was literally stuck to it. The crab legs were okay, just bland and barely any meat. I definitely do not recommend coming to this...
