Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Arlington

Sonic is usually one of my favorite quick stops, but this particular location hasn’t measured up to others in the area. The idea of “hot and fast” doesn’t always apply here. While the food itself can be fine once it finally arrives, the wait times feel much longer than they should for a drive-in.

I’ve had times where drinks showed up wrong or out of things during peak hours, which is frustrating when that’s half the reason you pull in. Burgers and coneys taste like Sonic classics, but too often they arrive lukewarm, as if they sat waiting to be run out.

Service is also inconsistent. Some carhops are friendly, but others drop the order off without much effort to make sure it’s accurate. I’ve had small mistakes like missing condiments or sides, and while not a deal breaker, it adds up over time. The lot itself could use more attention too—it doesn’t have that same tidy look I’ve seen at better Sonic locations.

At its best, Sonic should be about convenience and speed, but this location just hasn’t nailed those basics. If it tightened up on service and kept food quality consistent, it would be much stronger. For now, it lags behind other...

I have only been to this sonic twice (these visits were 2 years apart) and both times were not good experiences. The first time we went we sat there for probably close to half an hour, and no one took our order after pressing the button multiple times and even switching lanes thinking that the lane was just out of order or something. This time all was well until I made the mistake of forgetting to order one drink... after ordering that drink I sat there for a very long time even though I told the guy who brought my food that I was waiting for that drink. To which he replied oh someone will probably bring it out... he never told them that I was waiting for it. Then I get home and they have me the wrong shake. So many disappointing experiences here to count. Latest was last night. Food brought to car and carhop says here, I need to go back to make your ice creams, which would have been more appropriately said as hey I’m going go ahead and let you hold your food and let it get cold. So carhop gets back after a decent wait with the blasts dripping over the sides and just hands them to me and just says here. I had to ask her to bring me napkins and hold them outside my car window so I did not get it all over my car. No apology, no let me clean that up for you, just a blank uncaring face turning and walking away. Get home, no surprise the food ice cold... like the melting blast and food smashed in the bag like someone sat on it. Not sure if I will be back, but I hope at least the carhop has found other employment...
