Pasta Fazool WatZ Da Matta U? Don't Be a Fool, Eat Pasta Fazool!
A very Brooklyn Review:
DA FOOD/ Fuhgeddaboudit Bene= Pasta Fazool! "Real Deal" Hero Bread, baked up North at Back Porch Bakery & STUFFED with Sausage & Peppers!
[I'm spillin' the gravy, whether you got a plate or not, paisan!]
DA SERVICE= Real Italians, some at heart.
[You don't like it? Stugots, I'm tellin' ya anyway!]
DA AMBIANCE= WiZe Guy & Gals welcoming "Brooklynese" atmosphere.
[I'm droppin' truth like a meatball on your plate, capisce?]
DA TUDE= Heros should be called Heros, since these torpedo-shaped are more like Hypersonic Cruise Missiles that target da taste buds. The savory taste and crunch is Rome Empire Heroic. While some here or there may call these sliced wonders, Subs, Submarines, Hoagies, Zepplin, or even Blimpie, please do not insult them by calling them a lowly American Grinder. If you cannot bring yourself to use Heroic terms, then maybe call it a Panini.
[Whadayagunnadoaboutit?
Take it or leave it, mingia, my word's the gospel!]
DA Bevande: DA VINO/ BIRRA/ CAFFÉ & SPREMUTA= Local and imported Vinos, Beer, Espresso, Affogato, Limone Granita Siciliana
PASTAFAZOOLA [1927]
Lyrics...
"...Good morning, paisan. Ah, buongiorno, signore. Come stai? Oh, I'm fine. Come stai to you, paisan. Oh, molto bene. .... Say, I tell you something. You know where's a restaurant? Why Joe, what kind do you want? Oh, a nice-a place. You capisce? Where they make Italian dish? Well now, there's "Lucas". Do you see? Where?
In "Arroyo Grande Village" down the street. All right. Goodbye. That's the place for me. Well, what are you going to eat?
Pasta fazoola. Will you tell me what you mean Sure I tell. Pasta fazoola. That's-a noodle and-a navy bean.
First antipasto. I must order it some time. And then you must-o have Italian wine. Pasta fazoola make-a weak-a man-a strong. Pasta fazoola make you live-a very long. You want-a be a great big sheik? Yes.
Make-a women bite-a you cheek? Sure. Well, don't be a fool; eat pasta fazool....
[To the tune of Finiculi, Finicula:] La-la, la-la, la-la-la-la-la...
Pasta fazoola, it's-a very good to eat. Say what makes Babe Ruth hit a home run? And what-a Mister Rockefeller make a lot o' mon'? What makes Jack Dempsey think he can fight? Pasta fazoola, 'cause he eats him ev'ry night. Well, what makes McCormick sing a high note? And what made Christopher Columbo take a boat? What's-a make-a Mussolini boss of Italy? And what made Lindbergh fly across the sea?
Pasta fazoola! We will tell you what we mean. Pasta fazoola! Noodle and-a navy bean. First antipasto, you must order it sometime. And then you must-o have Italian-a wine. Pasta fazoola! Make-a weak-a man-a strong.
Pasta fazoola! Make-a live-a very long. And if you want a great big chest, Push the buttons off-a you vest, Don't be a fool. Eat pasta fazool."

Read moreTried this place for the first time and left more than satisfied!!! A small, family-run, casual eatery that did not disappoint! It's a "deli" so the expectation is not for a full-service restaurant, yet they make a great effort to create a comfortable and fun vibe/ambiance and provide great service. We went during a dinner rush (and with such a small space, it doesn't take much to create a rush) but they hustled the whole time to keep up! The owner/chef just has one small cook top/ work station. I could not believe how well he was keeping up with the orders considering this. While we did wait a little while, it didn't feel like it because the young girls serving were incredibly attentive, always checked in to reassure us (even though we didn't need it) that our food was coming. Our orders did come out staggered but we didn't mind it because we were sharing and nothing got cold. Plus it inadvertently added to the Italian atmosphere because in Italy, you do eat more in "courses" rather than all at once like we do here in US. The two young girls who were doing the table service blew us away with their work ethic, communication and thoroughness (especially compared to the average service you get from most people these days.) They were so sweet and personable. Without them, I doubt we would have appreciated our experience as much as we did. That being said, the food was wonderful. Some dishes were smaller portions, but that means you can try more! We got the bread with dipping oil, procini ravioli, pesto linguine and pasta al forna, tiramisu and cannoli. We thought everything was either very delivered or at "least" pretty good. We will definitely be back to try more items! We are very happy to have found this fun spot...
Read moreWe stopped in Luca's today and everything was great. The space is small but they definitely make the most of it. It was a rainy day, so inside seating was at a premium. The owners were welcoming and warm and everyone was bustling to accommodate a full house.
Large heaters grace the outside but unfortunately the rain had other ideas. I can't wait to come on a non-rainy day and eat outside their cafe and enjoy our little village.
The owners have created a warm and inviting place. I loved that they were both hustling with their staff but also taking time (when able) to chat with their guests. We felt warm (despite the cold weather) and enjoyed getting to know the owners.
The menu is, in my humble opinion, authentically Italian. I love that the menu reminded me of being in Italy.
One of the owners recommended the Catania sandwich and I'm so glad I tried it! The pistachio spread was lovely and I wasn't sure about it at first but it added a great balance to the sandwich! The bread was soft and fresh. An excellently made sandwich.
My partner and son had the meatball sandwich and were pleased with 3 large meatballs on a beautiful torpedo roll! Plenty of sauce (but not too much) with melted cheese on top. Meatballs were delicate but hearty. Meatball sandwiches can be a mess but this was well done and nobody came out with sauce on their outfit!
Each sandwich was served with a nice side of arugula and shaved Parmesan. I loved the tang of the dressing and it also was an excellent compliment to the sandwiches.
I can't wait to try more of their menu! Recommend this place highly. I can't wait to get to know not only the food but the owners as well. Thank...
